Gujarat Titans Secure Dominant Victory
In a thrilling encounter during the 11th match of the IPL 2026, the Gujarat Titans (GT) emerged victorious against the Rajasthan Royals, securing a commanding 77-run win. This victory marked their fourth consecutive win of the season, propelling them to the second position in the points table. With 14 points from 7 wins and 4 defeats, GT has shown remarkable consistency and form.
The match was a testament to the team’s strong batting and bowling performances. The host franchise, however, once again struggled with their bowling, conceding over 200 runs. Despite this, they managed to restrict the Rajasthan Royals to 152 runs in 16.3 overs while chasing a daunting target of 230 runs.
Key Performances in the Chase
Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial role in the chase, scoring 38 runs off 25 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes. His contribution was vital in keeping the innings alive. However, the Rajasthan Royals’ run chase was hampered by several key wickets.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi started aggressively, but he couldn’t convert his promising start into a match-winning performance. He scored 36 runs off 16 balls, featuring 3 fours and 3 sixes. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the stand-in captain, struggled to make an impact, managing only 3 runs in four deliveries. Kagiso Rabada dismissed him, while Mohammed Siraj sent back the 15-year-old batter.
Shimron Hetmyer also had a low score, becoming Rabada’s second victim of the innings. Rashid Khan, the veteran Afghan spinner, dominated the proceedings, taking four wickets. Dhrul Jurel (24 off 10), Donovan Ferreira (4), Shubham Dubey (15), and Jadeja were all unable to counter Rashid’s brilliance. He conceded just 33 runs and was the standout bowler of the match. Jason Holder claimed three wickets, giving away 12 runs from his 2.3 overs.
Strong Batting Performance by Gujarat Titans
Earlier in the match, the Rajasthan Royals’ inconsistent bowling and extras allowed Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan to settle down. Gill scored an impressive 84 runs off 44 balls, hitting 9 fours and 3 sixes. Sudharsan followed suit with a 36-ball 55, which included 6 boundaries and 2 sixes.
Jos Buttler (13) and Holder (7) couldn’t sustain their partnerships for long. However, Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia delivered strong performances in the death overs. Sundar scored 37 runs, hitting 3 sixes and 2 fours, while Tewatia contributed 14 runs off 4 balls, including 2 sixes.
Brijesh Sharma (2 wickets), Jadeja (1 wicket), and Yash Raj Punja (1 wicket) kept the Rajasthan batters in check throughout the innings.
Impact on the Points Table
With their fifth loss of the season, the Rajasthan Royals have dropped to the fifth spot in the points table. This defeat highlights the need for improvement in their bowling and fielding departments. On the other hand, the Gujarat Titans continue to build momentum, showing their potential as serious contenders for the IPL title.
