Tane Faces Life-Threatening Attack in Prison
Despite clear evidence proving Tane’s innocence of drug possession, he continues to be held in prison. This week’s episode of Home and Away highlights the dangers he faces while incarcerated, with his time behind bars putting a target on his back.
Since arriving at the facility, Tane (played by Ethan Browne) has tried to stay low and avoid conflict. However, he is struggling to adjust to life in prison. His decision to keep a low profile has not gone unnoticed, and it may have made him an easy target.
Meanwhile, in Summer Bay, Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) is working tirelessly to get his friend out of jail. Brax (Stephen Peacocke) discovered crucial evidence that could exonerate Tane. A video recording from baby Archie’s monitor showed that Kerrie (Sara Wiseman) planted the drugs and framed Tane.
Tane Fights for His Life
The truth is taking time to process, and Cash is working on formalizing Tane’s release. However, it might already be too late.
Back inside the prison, Tane notices a guard being cornered by a group of inmates. The guard has been kind to Tane since his arrival, and he rushes over to intervene. Before he can act, Tane is tasered and attacked. He is left bleeding and unconscious as the mob of prisoners leaves him for dead.
“Tane meets some people who aren’t exactly nice to him,” Ethan Browne says. “He becomes a bit of a target.”

A Glimpse of Hope in the Hospital
A few hours later, Levi (Tristan Gorey) is shocked when paramedics rush Tane into the hospital on a gurney. He has suffered severe abdominal injuries and requires urgent surgery. As Levi prepares him for the operation, Jo (Maddison Brown) arrives and rushes to his side, overwhelmed with guilt for not being there during this ordeal.
“He risks his life to save someone else, which is exactly who Jo knows him to be,” Maddison explains. “Seeing him fighting for his life puts everything into perspective for her. She feels a deep sense of guilt for ever questioning their future, even though those feelings were coming from a very real place.”

Tane and Jo Face a Crossroads
Tane and Jo’s relationship has been tested through difficult times. Despite their love for each other, obstacles continue to interfere. When Tane fled to Western Australia, Jo was hurt. Since his return, she has struggled to cope with his arrest and the emotional toll of visiting him in prison.
“Jo genuinely believed they would find Kerrie and prove his innocence, so the idea of him going on the run didn’t feel real to her,” Maddison explains. “But she also understands what that decision costs him, potentially never seeing Archie again, so she can see how desperate he must have been. There are a lot of layers to it and Jo knows it is not really about her, but that does not mean it did not hurt.”
Maddison adds: “Jo is completely in love with Tane and would do anything for him, but visiting him in prison forces everything into reality very quickly.”

Will Their Relationship Survive?
If Tane survives the attack and is released, will his relationship with Jo endure? The challenges they face are significant, and their future remains uncertain.
Home and Away airs Monday to Thursday at 7pm on Channel Seven.
