Inside Stanley Tucci’s Love Story with Felicity Blunt

A Life of Love and Loss

Stanley Tucci, best known for his roles in films such as The Devil Wears Prada and Julie & Julia, has a life that is as rich and complex as the stories he tells on screen. While he is often seen exploring the heart of Italy, sharing his love for food and wine with fans on social media, or captivating audiences with his performances, there is another side to him — one defined by love, loss, and second chances.

The First Marriage: A Story of Grief and Reconciliation

Stanley Tucci’s first marriage was to Kathryn Tucci (née Spath), whom he married in 1995. Their relationship had its ups and downs, including a brief separation during which Stanley had a short-lived relationship with fellow actor Edie Falco. However, the couple eventually reconciled and remained together until her untimely death in 2009 from breast cancer at the age of 47.

In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Stanley spoke candidly about the grief of losing his wife. “You never stop grieving,” he said. “It’s still hard. And it will always be hard. But you can’t let it… and she would never want any of us to ever wallow in that grief and let it take over our lives. She wasn’t like that.”

He also shared similar sentiments in an interview with The Guardian, where he reflected on how grief lingers but must not consume a person’s life. “It’s always there. But if it were to stay as prominent in your life as it does at the beginning, you couldn’t function. You couldn’t take care of your kids. You couldn’t hold a job. You couldn’t do anything. So, whether we know it or not, we tell ourselves to let it go. And also, the person who died would not want you to be that way.”

A New Beginning with Felicity Blunt

Stanley met Felicity Blunt at the wedding of his Devil Wears Prada co-star Emily Blunt to John Krasinski in 2010. Emily is Felicity’s older sister, and the two quickly developed a connection. They became engaged a year later and married in a civil ceremony in 2012.

Felicity, who originally trained to be a lawyer, now works as a literary agent. The couple lives in London together. In an interview with The Standard, Stanley expressed surprise at finding love again. “I never imagined when my wife died that I would marry a person so much younger,” he said. “I’m 21 years Emily’s senior. I never had any interest in it — and honestly, I’m not just saying that to not sound like a lech. I had no interest. I wanted to be with someone my own age, or even older, because of my vanity.”

However, he quickly added that Felicity’s maturity and kindness made the age gap irrelevant. “But my wife, first of all, is so much more mature than me that her actual years don’t mean anything. She’s an extraordinary step-parent, and her affection for my children and their affection for her eclipsed any age gap.”

Family Life: Five Children and a Rich Legacy

Stanley Tucci has five children in total. He has three children with his first wife, Kathryn: Camilla, and twins Nicolo and Isabel. They also raised two children from her previous marriage. With his second wife, Felicity Blunt, he has a son, Matteo Oliver Tucci, and a daughter, Emilia Giovanna.
