A Life of Love and Loss
Stanley Tucci, best known for his roles in films such as The Devil Wears Prada and Julie & Julia, has a life that is as rich and complex as the stories he tells on screen. While he is often seen exploring the heart of Italy, sharing his passion for food and wine with fans around the world, he also finds joy in his personal life, particularly with his wife, Felicity Blunt.
Tucci’s journey through love and loss has been deeply impactful. His first marriage was to Kathryn Tucci (née Spath), whom he married in 1995. The couple experienced a brief separation, during which Tucci had a short-lived relationship with fellow actor Edie Falco. However, they eventually reconciled and remained together until her untimely death in 2009 due to breast cancer. She was only 47 years old at the time.
In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Tucci reflected on the pain of losing his first wife. “You never stop grieving,” he said. “It’s still hard. And it will always be hard. But you can’t let it… and she would never want any of us to ever wallow in that grief and let it take over our lives. She would never want that. She wasn’t like that.”
He continued to share his thoughts on grief in another interview with The Guardian. “It’s always there. But if it were to stay as prominent in your life as it does at the beginning, you couldn’t function. You couldn’t take care of your kids. You couldn’t hold a job. You couldn’t do anything. So, whether we know it or not, we tell ourselves to let it go. And also, the person who died would not want you to be that way. Although I do want my wife to be that way when I die. I want her to be incredibly unhappy.”
Meeting Felicity Blunt
Stanley met Felicity Blunt at the wedding of his Devil Wears Prada co-star Emily Blunt to John Krasinski in 2010. Emily is Felicity’s older sister, and their connection quickly led to a romantic relationship between Stanley and Felicity. They became engaged a year later and married in a civil ceremony the following year.
Emily, who originally trained to be a lawyer, now works as a literary agent. The couple currently resides in London together. In an interview with The Standard, Tucci shared his thoughts on the age difference between him and Felicity. “I never imagined when my wife died that I would marry a person so much younger,” he said. “I am 21 years Emily’s senior. I never had any interest in it — and honestly, I’m not just saying that to not sound like a lech. I had no interest. I wanted to be with someone my own age, or even older, because of my vanity.”
However, he added, “But my wife, first of all, is so much more mature than me that her actual years don’t mean anything. She’s an extraordinary step-parent, and her affection for my children and their affection for her eclipsed any age gap.”
Family Life
Stanley Tucci has five children in total. He has three children with his first wife, Kathryn: Camilla, and twins Nicolo and Isabel. They also raised two children from Kathryn’s previous marriage. With his second wife, Felicity Blunt, he has a son, Matteo Oliver Tucci, and a daughter, Emilia Giovanna.
His family life has been shaped by both loss and new beginnings, showcasing the resilience and depth of his personal relationships. From his early days in Hollywood to his current life with Felicity, Tucci continues to navigate the complexities of love, loss, and family with grace and authenticity.
