Celebrity Faces Counter-Suit After Subduing Home Intruder
A startling turn of events has emerged following an incident where a prominent actor and singer, Nana (35, real name Lim Jin-ah), formerly of the group After School, heroically subdued an armed intruder in her own home. The perpetrator, identified only as “A,” a man in his 30s, has now filed a counter-suit against Nana, alleging injuries sustained during the struggle and pressing charges that reportedly include attempted murder.
Nana’s agency, Sublime, has vehemently refuted the counter-claims, stating that authorities have unequivocally confirmed A’s criminal actions in the robbery. “While the investigation by authorities has clearly confirmed A’s criminal acts in the robbery case against Nana,” the agency stated on the 2nd, “A has filed a separate lawsuit against Nana without showing any sign of remorse.”
According to Nana’s representatives, A has recently lodged a complaint with the police, accusing her of attempted murder and inflicting special injuries. The agency expressed outrage at this development, emphasizing the profound distress and harm Nana and her family endured.
“A is causing secondary harm through inhumane acts, exploiting the fact that the victim is a public figure,” Sublime elaborated. “In particular, during the crime committed by the armed perpetrator, Nana and her family suffered severe physical and mental harm, and the resulting pain continues to this day.” The agency has pledged to protect Nana’s rights and pursue all available legal avenues.
The Night of the Intrusion
The harrowing incident occurred on November 15th of last year, around 6 a.m. An intruder, armed with a weapon, gained entry into Nana’s residence in Acheon-dong, Guri. Reports indicate that A scaled a pre-erected ladder to reach the balcony and entered the home through an unlocked door. Upon entry, he immediately assaulted Nana’s mother, reportedly choking her.
The sounds of her mother’s screams roused Nana from sleep. She confronted the armed assailant, leading to a physical struggle. In a remarkable display of courage and quick thinking, Nana and her mother managed to restrain A by holding his arms, allowing them to contact the police.
Nana’s mother, though temporarily losing consciousness due to her injuries, recovered after receiving medical treatment. Nana herself also required medical attention for her own wounds sustained during the altercation. It was later revealed that Nana possesses a 4th-degree black belt in Taekwondo, a skill that likely contributed to her ability to defend herself and her mother.
Legal Proceedings and Self-Defense
During the confrontation, A sustained injuries to his jaw and was subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment. Law enforcement officials reviewed the case to determine if Nana’s actions constituted justifiable self-defense under Article 21, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Act. This article permits self-defense when there is a “current unjust infringement” and the response is based on “reasonable grounds.”
The police concluded that Nana’s actions were indeed justifiable. They determined that a genuine threat existed to both Nana and her mother, and crucially, that A did not suffer serious injuries during the defensive struggle. Therefore, Nana’s intervention was deemed a lawful act of self-preservation.
“Nana’s mother suffered severe injuries from the attacker’s assault, losing consciousness, and Nana also sustained physical injuries while escaping the crisis,” a source from Nana’s agency reiterated.
During the police investigation, A reportedly claimed he was unaware he was targeting a celebrity’s residence and stated his actions were driven by financial difficulties. The Guri Police Station in Gyeonggi Province subsequently referred A for prosecution on November 24th of last year, charging him with special aggravated robbery resulting in injury.
The filing of a counter-suit by the perpetrator, despite the clear evidence of his criminal intent and actions, highlights the complex and often distressing legal battles faced by public figures.
