Jerry O’Connell has always cherished the words his mother, Linda, shared with him on the day of his wedding to Rebecca Romijn. The actor, known for his role in Scream 2, recently recalled this moment during a joint appearance on the Live with Kelly and Mark show on May 8.

Linda once had a habit of expressing her disapproval whenever Jerry was dating someone. She would often tell him, “I don’t like her! Kick her to the curb!” This humorous warning became a recurring theme in their relationship.
The day of the wedding, Jerry stayed with his parents because Rebecca was with her family. They only saw each other at the altar. But during the car ride to the ceremony, Linda gave him a surprising message.

“She said, ‘Listen, if you feel uncomfortable about this,'” Jerry remembered. “You don’t have to do this,” Linda added.
Jerry recounted how his mother continued: “You don’t gotta do this! I’m just sayin’! You can, if you want… You can go to the airport — no questions. We’ll cover for you. It’s okay. You sure about this? She’s a beautiful girl, she’s very nice, but you sure about this?”

Jerry and Rebecca, who married in 2007, had an intimate ceremony in Los Angeles. A year later, they welcomed twin daughters, Dolly and Charlie, now 17. Despite Linda’s initial doubts, she now loves everything about Rebecca, who is also known for her role in Ugly Betty.
Jerry also shared that he has become like his mother when it comes to giving advice to his daughters about love and relationships.

“I sit down with them and I say, ‘Girls, you gotta play the field. You can’t just go out with one!’” he said. “I see their friends who are in relationships and they don’t have fun anymore.”
Recently, Jerry spoke on the “Hate to Break It to Ya” podcast about how his daughters are starting to explore their independence. He admitted that while they are beginning to party, he doesn’t plan to take a strict approach to parenting.
“They’re nepo babies in Los Angeles. They’re gonna party. They’re not quite 18 yet, but they’re in high school. I have like a ‘call me anytime’ [rule],” he said. He also mentioned that his daughters are “vaping all the time.”
“These kids are crazy these days,” the Jerry Maguire actor added.
