Andy Carroll Steps Up as Manager for Dagenham & Redbridge Just Weeks After KSI’s Takeover
In a swift and dramatic turn of events, Dagenham & Redbridge Football Club has seen a significant managerial shake-up, with club owner KSI opting to replace Lee Bradbury with former England striker Andy Carroll. This major decision comes a mere two weeks after the social media sensation officially acquired a stake in the National League South side.
Bradbury, 50, has been relieved of his duties despite the team securing a victory against Farnborough on Tuesday night. The club currently sits in 12th position in the division. KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olayinka Williams ‘JJ’ Olatunji, was present at an earlier victory over Dorking Wanderers, where he was seen alongside Carroll.

The club issued a statement confirming the departure: “Dagenham & Redbridge Football Club can confirm that we have parted company with First-Team Manager, Lee Bradbury. We are very grateful to Lee for his focus, professionalism, and commitment during his time at the Club and for his contributions, both on and off the pitch, to stabilise the club last summer. Dagenham & Redbridge wish him every success in his future endeavours.”

Andy Carroll, 37, who joined Dagenham as a player last summer but is currently sidelined with an injury, will now assume the role of interim manager. The club indicated that further updates regarding the managerial situation will be communicated in due course.
A New Challenge for Carroll and a Test Against a Legendary Manager
Carroll’s first match in charge will be a formidable test, pitting his nascent managerial skills against the vastly experienced Neil Warnock. Warnock, 77, a cult hero in the managerial circuit, has recently emerged from retirement once again to take the helm at Torquay United. The prospect of Carroll, a player with a decorated career but no prior managerial experience, facing off against a manager who has overseen over 1000 professional games promises to be an intriguing tactical battle.
Carroll’s appointment comes at a time when he is also facing legal proceedings. He is due to stand trial next January after pleading not guilty to charges of breaching a non-molestation order. The accusations involve allegations of repeatedly contacting his ex-wife, Billi Mucklow, with whom he shares three children. A non-molestation order, issued by a civil court, aims to protect individuals from harassment and can carry a maximum prison sentence of five years if breached.

Carroll’s transition from player to manager at Dagenham & Redbridge marks a significant shift. He signed for the club after leaving French side Bordeaux last year. During his playing spell, he managed to score six goals in 12 appearances before his season was cut short by injury at the end of last year.

KSI’s Vision for Dagenham & Redbridge
KSI’s acquisition of a stake in Dagenham & Redbridge has been a major talking point, signalling a bold new venture for the multi-talented entertainer. His arrival at the club has been met with considerable enthusiasm from the fanbase. At his first game earlier this month, he received a rapturous welcome from supporters.
The 32-year-old even provided fans with an inside look at his experience, live-streaming his time at the match. A camera crew followed his and Carroll’s movements in the stands, and the pair were mic’d up, sharing in the excitement of Aramide Oteh’s decisive goal in the second half.
The impact of KSI’s investment was immediately apparent in terms of fan engagement. The attendance for the match he attended was 2,281, more than doubling the turnout for the previous home game before his investment.
Speaking after announcing his purchase, KSI expressed his immense excitement and ambitious vision for the club. “It’s surreal, bro, out of this world. The idea of it excites me so much,” he stated. “Years ago, I saw the excitement, the happiness, the joy. I want to bring that back and then surpass it. I want the place to be pumping, I want it to be rocking, I want it to be an event whenever you come here.”
He acknowledged the difference between managing a virtual team in a video game and owning a real football club, drawing parallels to his “Race to Division One” FIFA YouTube series. “Playing a video game and owning a football club is very different, I know that, but with Race to Division One (his Fifa YouTube series), it was a journey. It was hard, but in the end, I did it.”
Looking ahead, KSI articulated his ultimate ambition: “With this club, I want to do the unthinkable. I want to take Dagenham and Redbridge to the Premier League. It’s obviously going to take time, but I’d say the realistic goal is getting out of this league and entering the National League. We need to improve the team, make some additions that really take it to another level, and I want to build the community.” The appointment of Andy Carroll, a prominent figure within the club, signals the first concrete step in this ambitious new era.
