Lagos APC Launches E-Registration and Revalidation on January 5

APC Launches Electronic Registration for Members in Lagos State

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has announced a significant initiative to begin the electronic registration and revalidation of its members starting January 5, 2026. This move marks a new phase in the party’s efforts to strengthen its organizational structure and ensure accurate representation of its membership.

The Chairman of the party in the state, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, revealed this development during a press conference held at the party’s secretariat in Ikeja on Friday. He emphasized that the registration exercise will run until January 30, 2026, and is open to both current and prospective members. The primary goal of this initiative is to create a comprehensive and verifiable database of party members across Lagos State.

“We want to have a proper database of our party and accurate statistical data of our membership strength. That is why we are embarking on e-registration,” Ojelabi stated. He highlighted the importance of having a reliable system to track and manage the party’s growing membership base effectively.

One of the key requirements for membership under this new system is the possession of a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC). Ojelabi stressed that political participation without voter registration undermines the purpose of party affiliation. “If you are a member of the APC and you do not possess a PVC, you are not with us. We want members who are qualified and ready to participate in the electoral process,” he said.

The electronic registration process will also serve as a revalidation mechanism for existing members, ensuring that only active and eligible individuals remain part of the party. At the same time, it provides an opportunity for new entrants to formally join the APC, thereby expanding the party’s reach and influence.

Ojelabi used the occasion to address broader issues affecting the country, particularly security challenges. He called for collective responsibility among Nigerians in tackling these issues and urged support for the efforts of President Bola Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. “This is our country, and we do not have another one. Security is a collective responsibility. I appeal to everyone to support the president and the governor in ensuring the safety of lives and property,” he said.

The APC chairman also acknowledged the role of journalists during the recent local government elections in Lagos State. He praised the media for providing extensive and objective coverage across the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas. “This meeting is to appreciate you for your professionalism and quality reportage. We urge you to continue to report our activities objectively as we move towards party congresses at the ward, local, state and national levels in 2026,” he added.

In his remarks, the party’s spokesman, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, highlighted the continued influx of defectors from opposition parties into the APC. He dismissed concerns about the possibility of a one-party state, stating that the party is attracting members daily due to its performance at the national and state levels. “Our party is attracting members from other parties on a daily basis because of its performance at the centre and in Lagos state. That is why it has become necessary to open up our e-registration process to accommodate the increasing number of people joining us,” Oladejo said.

He further emphasized that the APC remains open to all Nigerians who share its ideals and are willing to participate in the democratic process. The party’s commitment to inclusivity and transparency is evident in its decision to implement an electronic registration system, which aims to streamline membership processes and enhance accountability.

The APC’s initiative reflects a strategic shift towards modernization and efficiency in party management. By leveraging technology, the party seeks to build a stronger, more organized base that can effectively compete in future elections. As the registration process begins, the focus will be on ensuring that all members are properly registered and actively engaged in the party’s activities.

This move is expected to have a significant impact on the political landscape in Lagos State and beyond. With a robust and verified membership database, the APC is well-positioned to mobilize its supporters and advance its agenda in the coming years. The success of this initiative will depend on the cooperation of members, the media, and the broader Nigerian public in supporting the party’s goals and objectives.
