Live-In Dog Companion Job Offers £60k Salary

Calling all dog lovers – your dream job awaits. Picture this: you live on a private estate in Surrey, earn £60,000 a year, and your main task is to spend your days tending to and caring for an adorable furry friend. Sounds like a fantasy, right? Well, it could be your new reality, as it’s actually an official job listing that has been circulating online.

Posted by Achieve Hospitality, a luxury hospitality recruitment agency, the employer is looking for a ‘live-in dog companion’ who will provide ‘a consistent presence on the property, supporting the well-being and daily routine of the family dog.’ Could you be the ‘warm, calm and dependable’ applicant they’re looking for?

The successful candidate will be tasked with catering to a posh pup’s every need. According to the listing, responsibilities will include managing the dog’s ‘morning and evening routines,’ feeding, grooming, and ensuring the pet’s overall well-being, and monitoring the pooch’s behaviour and health. Oh, and in case you weren’t yet totally convinced that this was the most adored dog in Britain, the live-in companion will also be tasked with ‘maintaining and updating the dog’s daily diary.’ Every pet needs a proper journal, right?

But while the role heavily focuses on taking care of the family dog, there are a few other aspects of the job to note. For example, the listing states that the employee should be ‘a reassuring live-in presence on the estate, helping ensure the home runs smoothly and remains well cared for.’ So, alongside pet duty, there is a heavy emphasis on being a ‘trusted guardian of the property.’ This includes things like receiving deliveries and assisting contractors, supporting the household team to ensure the estate is always ‘well-presented,’ and maintaining a general awareness of the home.

And despite the fact that the employer stresses that this isn’t a housekeeper role, from the looks of it, the employee will be expected to run errands, support occasional light cooking, and help out with different administrative tasks related to the estate. That is when they’re not giving the family dog a manicure.

While it’s a heavy-duty role, it does come with some sizeable perks. The live-in companion will be put up in a cottage on the estate (all bills included), with a partner and any pets welcome to join. The successful candidate will also be paid £60,000 a year and be given a degree of flexibility when the family are in residence.

So if you’re a bit of a blabbermouth, this role might not be for you.
