Madison St. Rose of Princeton Joins Notre Dame via Transfer Portal

Notre Dame Women’s Basketball Gains a Key Addition with Madison St. Rose

Notre Dame women’s basketball head coach Niele Ivey is looking to strengthen the team’s backcourt for the upcoming season, and the addition of Madison St. Rose could be exactly what the program needs. The 5-10 guard from Old Bridge, New Jersey, will be joining the Fighting Irish for her graduate season, bringing a wealth of experience and talent to the roster.

St. Rose has had a remarkable undergraduate career at Princeton, earning numerous accolades throughout her time there. She was named to the 2026 All-Ivy League First Team, the 2024 All-Ivy League Second Team, and was recognized as the 2023 Ivy League Rookie of the Year. Additionally, she was selected for the 2025-26 Wooden Award Watch List, which honors the nation’s top college basketball players.

“We are thrilled to welcome Maddie to our Notre Dame women’s basketball family!” said Niele Ivey, the Karen and Kevin Keyes Family Head Women’s Basketball Coach. “Maddie strengthens our backcourt with her experience, three-level scoring ability and leadership. She brings size, defense and versatility on the wing, plus a high basketball IQ that fits perfectly with everything that makes Notre Dame special.”

During her final season with the Princeton Tigers, St. Rose averaged an impressive 15.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. She shot 47.9 percent from the field and scored in double-figures in 23 of 28 games. Her performance included five games with at least 20 points, two of which came against major conference opponents like No. 9 Maryland.

St. Rose led Princeton in scoring last year, helping the team secure its fifth-straight NCAA Tournament berth. Over her four-year career at Princeton, she averaged 13.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per contest. The Tigers made the NCAA Tournament in each of her seasons.

Before arriving at Princeton, St. Rose was already making waves in high school. She was the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year and a two-time Max Preps Player of the Year. As a recruit, she was ranked No. 46 overall in the 2022 class by ESPN and was a McDonald’s All-American nominee.

With her arrival, St. Rose will join Hannah Hidalgo in the Irish backcourt. Together, they form one of the most dynamic guard duos in the nation. This pairing is set to be further strengthened by the addition of a top-100 recruiting class, highlighted by No. 9 overall recruit Jacy Abii.
