Maine Snowmobile Association’s Annual Banquet

Annual Banquet Celebrates Snowmobiling Excellence

On Saturday, the Maine Snowmobile Association held its annual banquet in Brewer, Maine. The event took place at Jeff’s Catering and served as a celebration of a successful snowmobiling season. The association, which has thousands of members spread across more than 280 clubs, came together to honor outstanding contributions to the sport.

During the awards ceremony, nine individuals were inducted into the Hall of Fame. This prestigious recognition celebrates those who have dedicated their lives to snowmobiling and made significant impacts on the community. Mark Chinnock, the former president of the association, emphasized the importance of the event.

“There are inductees that are being inducted today into the Hall of Fame, and they’ve got 20 family members that have showed up for this, or 25 or 30 members. There’s a lot of people out there. They’re here. It means a lot to them. It means a lot to their families. And it’s a great way to honor somebody that’s spent their life and been passionate about snowmobiling,” Chinnock said.

The induction ceremony not only recognizes individual achievements but also highlights the deep connections within the snowmobiling community. Many of the inductees have family members who are also involved in the sport, showcasing the legacy and tradition that continue to thrive.

One of the inductees was someone familiar to many in the area. Eileen Lafland, the Eastern Region Vice President of the Association, was honored for her contributions to the sport. Her work has helped promote snowmobiling and support the growth of the association.

Lafland’s induction is a testament to her dedication and passion for the sport. She has been actively involved in various initiatives aimed at improving the snowmobiling experience for members and promoting the sport to new audiences. Her leadership and commitment have made a lasting impact on the association and the broader community.

The annual banquet serves as more than just an event; it is a gathering that brings together members from all over the state. It provides an opportunity for networking, sharing stories, and celebrating the achievements of those who have made significant contributions to the sport.

Snowmobiling is a popular activity in Maine, especially during the winter months. The sport not only offers recreational opportunities but also supports local businesses and promotes tourism. Events like the annual banquet help strengthen the bond between members and reinforce the importance of preserving the traditions associated with snowmobiling.

As the association continues to grow, it remains committed to fostering a sense of community and encouraging participation in the sport. The Hall of Fame inductions are a key part of this effort, as they recognize the individuals who have played a vital role in shaping the future of snowmobiling in the state.

With each passing year, the Maine Snowmobile Association looks forward to welcoming new members and continuing its mission of promoting and supporting the sport. The annual banquet is a reminder of the shared passion and dedication that keep the snowmobiling community strong.
