A New Era for Guy Montgomery’s Spelling Bee
This season of Guy Montgomery’s Spelling Bee is set to be different, as the show bids farewell to one of its most recognizable faces, Aaron Chen. In a heartfelt statement, Guy shared the news that Aaron has decided to move to the North Pole, a decision that came as a surprise but was met with full support from the host.
“After our Christmas special last year, Aaron made the decision to move to the North Pole,” Guy told a publication. “While it was obviously a shock to me, I wholeheartedly support the decision and wish him all the best.”

Replacing Aaron in season three is Sam Campbell, a comedian whose career has taken him to great heights. Known for winning the UK version of Taskmaster and playing Bubby on Fisk, Sam brings a unique energy to the show.
“Sam is one of the funniest people in the entire world, and we’ve been friends for a long time,” Guy said. “The chance to have him come and completely derail my show was too good to pass up.”
Exciting New Episodes and Guests
The first episode of the season will feature carryover champion Gillian Cosgriff going up against Andrew Denton, Michelle Brasier, and Phil Wang. The second episode will see The Pitt star Shabana Azeez take on the challenge. But how did Guy manage to convince comedy legend Andrew Denton to make an appearance?
“Andrew has appeared on the show before via video message when offering support for Julia Zemiro in a segment called Hometown Hero,” Guy explained. “Knowing he was happy to do that and aware we existed gave us the confidence to see if he’d want to come and spell.”

New Games and Creative Ideas
Viewers can also expect some fresh and exciting games this season. According to Guy, the process of developing new game ideas is one of the most enjoyable parts of the show.
“Apart from filming the show, developing the new game ideas is probably the most enjoyable part of the entire show,” Guy said. “This year I am lucky to have had Abby Howells and Emma Holland come on as writers, and I am incredibly excited by what we’ve come up with.”
The team has some bold plans for the upcoming episodes, including settings that range from a casino to a video store and even the book of Genesis.
“We’re going to the casino! We’re going to the video store! We’re going to the book of Genesis! There isn’t a single setting in time or space that we won’t spell words in.”
Looking Ahead
With a new sidekick, fresh challenges, and creative twists, this season of Guy Montgomery’s Spelling Bee promises to be a thrilling and entertaining experience for fans. As the show continues to evolve, it remains a celebration of language, humor, and the joy of learning through competition.
