Miami has made a significant move in the 2026 transfer portal by securing the commitment of power forward Desean Goode from Robert Morris. Goode, who was named the Horizon League Player of the Year for the 2025-26 season, showcased his talent with impressive stats: averaging 15.2 points per game on 62.9% shooting from the field, 57.1% from three-point range, and grabbing 8.7 rebounds per game.
The addition of Goode strengthens Miami’s already formidable forward rotation, which now includes five-star freshman Caleb Gaskins and rising sophomore Shelton Henderson. This trio is expected to be one of the top forward groups in the nation. Additionally, Miami has secured commitments from Georgia center Somto Cyril and Villanova point guard Acaden Lewis, further solidifying their roster.
Cyril, Goode, and Lewis collectively form what is ranked as the fifth-best transfer class in the 247Sports rankings. The team also returns starting shooting guard Dante Allen and anticipates the return of forward Marcus Allen, who missed most of the 2025-26 season due to treatment for non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Goode is ranked as the 70th-ranked transfer and 18th-ranked power forward in the 2026 portal according to 247Sports. This will be his third college program in as many years, having played his freshman season at IU-Indianapolis. Miami managed to outperform strong competition such as Kansas, Louisville, and St. John’s to secure Goode’s commitment, as reported by On3.
Goode’s Performance Against Power Conferences
Goode demonstrated his ability to perform against high-level competition during the 2025-26 season. In a game against Iowa, he scored 11 points on four-of-six shooting from the field, made both of his three-point attempts, and converted his only free throw. He added three rebounds and two assists in a 101-69 loss for Robert Morris. Iowa, which lost in the 2026 NCAA Tournament South Regional Final, was clearly outmatched in that contest.
Throughout the 2025-26 season, Goode scored in double figures in 29 out of 33 games. He recorded at least 10 rebounds in 13 games, highlighting his versatility and rebounding ability. At 6’8″ and 230 pounds, Goode is expected to provide valuable minutes at the center position, offering depth and flexibility to Miami’s frontcourt.
Future Plans for the Miami Roster
Jai Lucas and the Miami coaching staff are continuing to build a competitive roster for the 2026-27 season. The team is expected to add unsigned high school prospects, international players, and additional transfers to fill out the roster. With the current lineup, Miami’s top six players should be among the best in the ACC for the upcoming season.
Goode’s arrival adds another layer of strength to an already promising team. His experience, scoring ability, and rebounding skills make him a valuable asset for Miami as they prepare for the challenges of the 2026-27 season. With a mix of returning players, new transfers, and potential additions, the Hurricanes are positioning themselves as a serious contender in the ACC and beyond.
