Noah Feddersen Steps In for CU Buffs Basketball

Noah Feddersen Joins Colorado Men’s Basketball Team

Noah Feddersen is set to fill a critical need for the Colorado men’s basketball team. The Buffaloes are looking to address more rotation gaps in the near future, and Feddersen’s commitment marks a significant step in that direction.

Feddersen, a 6-foot-10 post player from North Dakota State, joined CU last week, addressing a major frontcourt void left by the graduation of Elijah Malone and the departures of several forwards, including Bangot Dak, Sebastian Rancik, Alon Michaeli, and Tacko Ifaola. His addition brings much-needed depth and experience to the team.

During his time at North Dakota State, Feddersen earned the Summit League’s Sixth Man of the Year award, averaging 9.3 points and 5.0 rebounds in just 21.1 minutes per game. He played a key role in helping the Bison win their conference tournament and qualify for the NCAA Tournament.

“An experienced player who’s coming from a winning program,” said CU head coach Tad Boyle. “A guy who’s got a great skill-set. Is able to pass, dribble, shoot for a big guy. Understands the game. A high-character guy. He could’ve left North Dakota State last year and probably made more money, but he stayed, finished what he started and is going to get his degree. He’s a great young man.”

Boyle emphasized that Feddersen has the potential to become a reliable three-point shooter, even if he isn’t a high-volume threat. “We want him to be a 3-point threat. Not a high-volume guy, but a guy that can stretch the defense if we have a mismatch. I think he’s capable of that and I think that’s one of the things he’s going to work on these next seven months before we start playing games again in November.”

Future Plans and Roster Adjustments

Boyle also mentioned that the team plans to add another frontcourt transfer in the near future, though the exact number of incoming transfers remains uncertain. With Feddersen’s commitment, the Buffs now have nine confirmed scholarship spots for the 2026-27 roster.

The returning perimeter quartet includes Barrington Hargress, Jalin Holland, Josiah Sanders, and Ian Inman. Additionally, the team has three incoming freshmen: Arizona wing Rider Portela, who signed with the Buffs in November, and the Australian duo of forward Goc Malual and guard Alex Dickeson, both of whom committed to the Buffs in late March.

Leonardo Van Elswyk, a 7-foot-1 center, is expected to return after redshirting this season as a true freshman. However, the status of Jon Mani, a former Denver wing and another 2025-26 redshirt player, remains uncertain as the transfer portal is still open through Tuesday.

CU carried 14 scholarship players this season, but Boyle indicated that the number could decrease to 13 or even 12 next season. “I feel really good about where we’re at,” Boyle said. “We’ve got one more that we really have to solidify and we’ll be in good shape.”

New Homes for Departing Players

Several key players have found new opportunities elsewhere. On Sunday, On3 Sports reported that Sebastian Rancik has committed to Florida State, while Bangot Dak is set to join former CU assistant Rick Ray at Vanderbilt.

Rancik was the Buffs’ third-leading scorer (12.3) and second-leading rebounder (5.6) during his sophomore season. He also averaged 2.0 assists per game and shot an impressive .860 from the free-throw line. However, his efficiency declined during Big 12 play, and he missed the final two regular-season games and the Big 12 tournament due to an injury.

Dak led the Buffs in rebounding (6.5) and averaged a career-high 11.5 points per game. His 100 career blocks rank 11th in team history. Rick Ray, who spent four seasons on CU’s staff, will now lead Dak at Vanderbilt.
