Northeast Indiana Claims 7 Regional Titles


High school basketball teams across Indiana delivered thrilling performances this past weekend, with seven northeast Indiana squads emerging victorious to claim regional championships. The state tournament bracket saw upsets, dominant wins, and historic achievements, setting the stage for intense semi-state matchups.

Class 4A Showdowns

In the highly competitive Class 4A, Snider High School pulled off one of the most significant upsets of the tournament, defeating the tenth-ranked Carmel Greyhounds 54-46 at the New Castle Fieldhouse. This victory marks Snider’s second regional title in the school’s history. Xavier Wilson was the driving force for the Panthers, leading all scorers with 18 points. Trell Hogue and Jordan Woods provided crucial support, each contributing 11 points to secure the win.

Homestead High School also punched its ticket to the semi-state round, clinching the Class 4A regional championship with a decisive 56-38 victory over Harrison. This marks the second consecutive season that the Spartans will compete at the semi-state level, demonstrating a consistent program of success.

Class 3A Dominance and History

The Class 3A division saw New Haven High School make history, capturing their first-ever regional title with a commanding 64-49 win against West Lafayette. Their NE8 rival, Columbia City, will join them at the semi-state, having secured their own regional championship. The Eagles defeated Hanover Central with a convincing score of 55-33.

Class 2A Battles

In Class 2A, Bishop Luers High School emerged victorious in a hard-fought contest, outlasting Bremen 55-51 at the Huntington North regional. This win propels the Knights to their first semi-state appearance since 2017. Ayle Taylor and TJ English were instrumental in the victory, both scoring in double figures.

Two other formidable teams in Class 2A, the second-ranked Oak Hill and third-ranked Westview, also secured their spots in the semi-state after impressive wins on Saturday.

Class 1A

  • Canterbury 43, Tri-County 44 (at Huntington North) – Note: Canterbury lost this regional final by a narrow margin.
