Fallout Continues: Park Na-rae Controversy Deepens Amidst Leaked Call and Conflicting Accounts
A recent leak of an emotional phone call recording between comedian Park Na-rae and her former manager, identified as “A,” has intensified the ongoing controversy surrounding the popular entertainer. The recording, shared on the YouTube channel Entertainment President Lee Jin-ho, purportedly details the circumstances leading to a reconciliation attempt and subsequent public statement by Park Na-rae.
The call, which took place in the early morning hours of the 8th of the previous month, captures a distressed A expressing sorrow, stating, “I don’t know how the situation escalated to this point” and “I didn’t want it to come to this.” Park Na-rae is heard attempting to console A, urging them to “Stop crying” and inquiring about their location, even expressing concern for her pet dog, Bokddori.
Following this conversation, the two reportedly engaged in a “pre-dawn meeting” at Park Na-rae’s residence, ostensibly to discuss a settlement. Later that same day, Park Na-rae issued a statement on Instagram announcing a temporary hiatus from broadcasting, asserting that “accumulated misunderstandings and distrust have been resolved.”
The release of the phone call recording within this timeline has prompted a mixed reaction from the public. Some online commentators observed that the interaction did not appear to reflect an abuser-victim dynamic, noting that the relationship seemed “not strained” and expressing a desire to remain neutral. A degree of sympathy was also extended to the individuals involved. However, a counter-argument emerged, suggesting that “complex emotions may have been involved” and that “the emotional call and the truth are separate issues,” emphasizing the importance of focusing on factual evidence.
Manager A’s Detailed Narrative Emerges
In the wake of the recording’s release, representatives for Manager A have provided a more detailed account of the events. A asserts that on the day of the call, they had a prior social engagement. It was only after this engagement concluded that A was informed by a third party that Park Na-rae wished to meet and was seeking a settlement, with mentions of the dog Bokddori being made. A emphasized that since their resignation, they have not initiated any contact with Park Na-rae; all calls were reportedly made by the comedian.
A further alleges that during the recorded call, Park Na-rae repeatedly referenced Bokddori in a manner that caused concern for the animal’s well-being, suggesting this was used as a pretext to maintain contact. A claims to have been the primary caregiver responsible for Bokddori’s management and care. The recorded call, according to A, served as a preliminary discussion before the pre-dawn meeting. A maintains that the sole motivation for agreeing to the meeting was Park Na-rae’s expressed desire for a settlement, despite not feeling well.
Disputed Settlement Negotiations
The meeting, which lasted approximately three hours, did not, according to A, involve any discussion of the legal settlement that had been anticipated. A explicitly refutes claims made by Park Na-rae’s side. “There was not a single mention of the settlement agreement’s content, the settlement amount, lawsuits, withdrawals, or provisional seizures,” A stated. Furthermore, A vehemently denied the assertion that they proposed a settlement of 500 million Korean won during the early morning meeting.
A recounts that upon waking around lunchtime on the same day, they were dismayed to find media reports that were inconsistent with the actual events. In response to this, A met with their legal counsel and subsequently delivered a formal settlement document to Park Na-rae’s legal team. This document, A clarifies, did not specify any monetary amount but instead demanded an apology and acknowledgment from Park Na-rae concerning what A described as false reports. Despite this, A claims Park Na-rae responded via message with, “What do you need besides money?” According to A, this indicated a lack of genuine intention to settle, and negotiations ultimately collapsed.
Ongoing Legal Investigations
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are actively investigating allegations of power abuse against Park Na-rae. A provisional seizure of real estate valued at 100 million Korean won, which was sought by former managers, including A, has been approved. The investigation into the complainants concerning charges of special injury and embezzlement has reportedly concluded. In parallel, Park Na-rae has filed counter-lawsuits against her former managers, accusing them of attempted extortion and embezzlement.
