Pickleball Tournament Funds Foster Children in Ardmore

A Growing Tournament with a Big Impact

In Ardmore, Oklahoma, the weekend was filled with more than just the excitement of pickleball. The Southern Oklahoma Classic Pickleball Tournament took place, drawing over 80 players who came together not only for competition but also to support a meaningful cause.

CASA of Southern Oklahoma has been hosting this annual event as a fundraising initiative. This year marked a significant milestone, with the tournament expanding from one day to two days, resulting in record-breaking funds raised.

Kari Bargas, a representative from CASA, shared the positive results of the event. “We have over 80 players, we went to two days this year instead of one day, and we’ve made more money than we have ever made before,” she said.

The entry fee for participants allowed them to compete in men’s and women’s singles and doubles tournaments. While the cost may seem modest, the impact it has on the community is substantial.

“The money raised goes toward school supplies, clothing, beds, and groceries—things that children in foster care might need,” Bargas explained. “It helps provide for their basic needs and makes a real difference.”

The funds collected through the tournament directly benefit over 100 foster children across multiple southern Oklahoma counties. For many of these kids, the support they receive can be life-changing.

“Kids get stuff that they need. This is helping them out, so it is a fantastic cause,” said Jerod Hobbs, a participant in the event.

Beyond the game itself, the tournament serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about the important work CASA volunteers do. These individuals play a crucial role in advocating for children in the foster care system, often making a difference in their lives.

“We could really use people that have a heart for children to come out and work with us,” Bargas added.

For Kelli Hobbs, another player, the tournament holds special significance. “CASA is just such a great organization. They help with so many kids, and this is just something small we can do for them. It’s a great purpose,” she said.

The success of the Southern Oklahoma Classic Pickleball Tournament highlights the power of community involvement and the impact that even small efforts can have. By combining sports with philanthropy, the event continues to grow and make a lasting difference in the lives of children in need.

Through the dedication of players, volunteers, and supporters, CASA is able to continue its mission of providing stability and support to foster children across the region. The tournament not only raises funds but also spreads awareness about the importance of child advocacy and the role that everyone can play in making a difference.

As the event continues to expand, it remains a testament to what can be achieved when people come together for a common goal. Whether on or off the court, the message is clear: every effort counts, and every contribution matters.
