RFK Jr. & Kid Rock Flex Together

Health Secretary’s Unconventional Workout Video Sparks Online Frenzy

A recent workout video featuring Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. alongside musician Kid Rock has ignited a firestorm of reactions across social media platforms. The 72-year-old Secretary shared the 90-second clip on Tuesday afternoon, accompanied by the straightforward message: “I’ve teamed up with @KidRock to deliver two simple messages to the American people: GET ACTIVE + EAT REAL FOOD.” Kid Rock, a well-known figure in the music industry and a vocal supporter of the Trump administration, joined Kennedy in this unusual public health initiative.

The video kicks off with a striking visual: Kennedy and Kid Rock posing shirtless, setting a rather informal tone. This is quickly followed by the on-screen title, “Secretary Kennedy and Kid Rock’s ROCK OUT WORK OUT.” The montage then transitions through a series of scenes depicting the pair engaged in various activities, including eating, riding in a car while holding a US flag, and finally, hitting the gym.

A Workout Routine Like No Other

The fitness regimen showcased in the video is far from conventional. Inside the gym, Kennedy and Kid Rock are seen utilising a stationary bike and performing push-ups. Notably, Kid Rock offers a defiant gesture, flashing his middle finger at the camera while on the bike. In another peculiar moment, Secretary Kennedy is filmed submerging himself in a tub, still clad in denim jeans.

The unconventional activities continue as the duo engages in a game of pickleball, before heading to a pool to unwind. Here, they are seen enjoying glasses of milk, with the words “WHOLE MILK” prominently displayed on screen. The montage culminates with the official logo of the Department of Health and Human Services, emblazoned with the slogan, “Make America Healthy Again.”

Divided Opinions and Public Scrutiny

The video’s release was met with a swift and varied response from the online community. California Governor Gavin Newsom’s press office seized on the content, sharing a screenshot and a pointed caption: “Is this after toilet seat #2 or #3?” This jab references a recent admission by Secretary Kennedy on a podcast, where he detailed a past habit of “snort[ing] cocaine off of toilet seats.”

Alyssa Farah Griffin, a co-host on the popular talk show “The View,” expressed her bewilderment with a candid post on X (formerly Twitter): “What the [bleep] did I just watch?”

Humour also became a prevalent reaction, with many users focusing on Kennedy’s choice of attire. The fact that he remained in jeans throughout the workout sparked numerous jokes. One widely shared comment read: “Not the jeans in the gym and sauna!” This isn’t entirely new behaviour for the Secretary, who has been previously photographed working out in denim. He explained last year that he began wearing jeans to the gym out of “convenience” and has since become accustomed to it.

Even the Department of Health and Human Services itself chimed in on the online chatter. The agency re-shared the video on X, adding the caption “BawitMAHA,” a clever play on Kid Rock’s 1999 hit song “Bawitdaba,” which serves as the soundtrack to the video.

The Independent has reached out to Kennedy’s office seeking comment on the public’s reaction to the widely discussed video. The incident highlights the often unpredictable intersection of public service, celebrity influence, and the pervasive nature of social media in shaping public perception.
