McIlroy Unveils Masters Champions Dinner Menu: A Taste of Ireland and Beyond
The hallowed grounds of Augusta National are buzzing with anticipation, not just for the iconic golf tournament itself, but also for the esteemed Champions Dinner, a cherished tradition during Masters week. This year, the honour of curating the culinary experience falls to none other than Rory McIlroy, the reigning champion. As is customary, McIlroy, as the defending champion, has been tasked with crafting a menu that will be savoured by a distinguished assembly of past Masters champions and the esteemed Chairman of Augusta National Golf Club.
This exclusive dinner is a highlight of the Masters calendar, often mentioned in the same breath as the thrilling Par-3 Contest and the ceremonial opening tee shots delivered by golf legends like Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, and Gary Player. It’s an evening steeped in tradition, where golfing royalty gather to share stories and enjoy a meal befitting their status.
McIlroy’s chosen menu promises a sophisticated and diverse gastronomic journey, blending familiar comforts with exciting new flavours. Guests will be treated to a selection of enticing starter options. These include:
- Peach & Ricotta Flatbread: A delightful combination of sweet and creamy, offering a light yet satisfying opening.
- Bacon-Wrapped Dates: A classic crowd-pleaser, these sweet and savoury morsels are sure to be a hit.
- Rock Shrimp Tempura: Crispy, delicate, and flavourful, this Japanese-inspired dish adds a touch of elegance.
- Grilled Elk Sliders: A unique and robust offering, these sliders bring a touch of the wild to the plate.
The culinary adventure continues with the first course, featuring Yellowfin Tuna Carpaccio, a dish renowned for its freshness and refined presentation. For the main course, diners will have a choice between two exquisite options:
- Wagyu Filet Mignon: The epitome of luxury, this prime cut of beef is expected to be tender and melt-in-your-mouth perfection.
- Seared Salmon: A lighter yet equally flavourful alternative, offering a beautifully cooked and delicate seafood experience.
Adding a personal and traditional touch, McIlroy has ensured the inclusion of traditional Irish Champ, a beloved staple of his homeland, alongside the ever-popular Brussels sprouts. To round off the evening, a decadent sticky toffee pudding will be served for dessert, providing a sweet and comforting conclusion.

Complementing the exquisite food will be an impressive array of wines and champagne, carefully selected to enhance each course. The sentiment of pride and honour will be palpable, with the menu proudly displaying the inscription: ‘Served in honour of Mr Rory McIlroy’.
McIlroy’s Road to Augusta: Battling Injury and Looking Ahead
Beyond the culinary delights, the conversation around McIlroy inevitably turns to his current form and his prospects at Augusta. The Northern Irishman has been navigating a challenging period, having played through a back injury at The Players’ Championship at TPC Sawgrass last weekend. Despite the discomfort, he managed to finish the tournament one-under-par, a testament to his grit and determination.
He had previously withdrawn from another tournament due to the injury and admitted he wasn’t at his absolute best in Florida. However, speaking at a TGL event recently, McIlroy provided a reassuring update on his physical condition.
“I was a little worried, I would say,” McIlroy commented. “Obviously was on painkillers, anti-inflammatories all of last week, so just sort of coming off those, just how I would feel on Monday. But felt fine yesterday. Feel fine today. So that wasn’t an issue, thankfully.”

With the Masters rapidly approaching, McIlroy’s preparations are understandably focused on rest and ensuring he arrives at Augusta National in peak condition. It’s clear that safeguarding his health is paramount as he gears up for his next major challenge.
“I think the Masters is going to be my next event,” he confirmed. He also mentioned an upcoming press conference on Zoom to officially reveal the menu, underscoring the significance of this traditional pre-Masters event. The focus now shifts to the iconic Georgia course, where McIlroy will aim to add another Green Jacket to his illustrious collection.
