Savannah Guthrie’s Heartfelt Message to Tucson: “We Continue to Believe”

Savannah Guthrie has issued a heartfelt plea as the search for her missing mother, Nancy, enters a critical phase. The 84-year-old vanished on February 1st, having been dropped off at her Tucson, Arizona home the previous evening.

A Plea to the Tucson Community

The Today show host, 54, is urging anyone with even the slightest piece of information to come forward and contact the authorities. “We are deeply grateful for the outpouring from neighbors, friends and the people of Tucson. We are all family now,” Savannah shared with News 4 Tucson on March 21st. She emphasised her belief that the key to finding resolution lies within the Tucson and greater southern Arizona community. “Someone knows something,” she stated with conviction.

Savannah implored residents to cast their minds back, particularly to the crucial timelines of January 31st and the early hours of February 1st, as well as the late evening of January 11th. “It’s possible a member of this community has information that they do not even realize is significant. We hope people search their memories,” the NBC anchor implored. She made a direct appeal for people to review any available camera footage, personal journals, text messages, or even casual observations and conversations that might now seem significant in retrospect. “No detail is too small. It may be the key,” she added, underscoring the urgency of the situation.

The Agony of Not Knowing

The emotional toll on Savannah and her family is palpable. “We miss our mom with every breath and we cannot be in peace until she is home. We cannot grieve; we can only ache and wonder,” she expressed, her voice filled with sorrow. The family’s sole focus remains on locating Nancy and bringing her back. “We want to celebrate her beautiful and courageous life. But we cannot do that until she is brought to a final place of rest,” Savannah confessed. She concluded her statement with a profound thank you, asking for continued, unwavering prayers.

The statement was co-signed by Savannah’s sister, Annie, and brother, Camron, along with their respective spouses, highlighting the united front of the Guthrie family in this distressing time.

An Active and Evolving Investigation

Despite the passage of nearly two months since Nancy’s disappearance, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI are maintaining a vigorous investigation. Sheriff Chris Nanos has assured the public that Nancy’s abduction case is far from going cold. In an interview on March 20th with Arizona Daily Star columnist Tim Steller and radio host Bill Buckmaster, Sheriff Nanos revealed that the investigation is actively pursuing promising leads.

“We have some DNA that we think is still workable,” he stated, offering a glimmer of hope. He further stressed the dedication of the law enforcement teams involved. “I hope also that the public and community understand that we are working it hard, and we are working it with some really good, quality teams.” The Sheriff also confirmed that forensic experts are meticulously sifting through “thousands (of hours) of video footage” in their relentless pursuit of clues. The commitment to piecing together the events surrounding Nancy’s disappearance remains a top priority.
