Sheridan Smith reveals she had a secret fling with hunky stuntman Alex Anlos in Greece

Sheridan Smith’s Secret Fling and New Drama

Sheridan Smith, the acclaimed British actress, has recently opened up about a romantic encounter that took place during the filming of her latest project. The 44-year-old star revealed she had a secret fling with a hunky stuntman named Alex Anlos while working on The Castaways, a 2023 Paramount+ drama filmed in Greece.

This revelation came as she spoke to Alan Carr on his Life’s a Beach podcast, where she described the romance as “so romantic.” According to Sheridan, the relationship began when Alex, who was helping her learn to swim, became more than just a colleague. She shared, “I did have a holiday romance actually. I was filming in Greece and the stuntman – I’m giving so much away – he taught me to swim, so he was holding me. And the next thing we did have a bit of a romance – it’s an exclusive! It’s so romantic and it’s the heat and the bodies are all out!”

During the filming in Greece, Sheridan shared several behind-the-scenes photos with Alex on Instagram. In one caption, she wrote: “Hanging out after stunt rehearsals with @that_stunt_dude Greece. This guy has made me look bad ass.” Another photo featured her writing, “Love filming here in Greece. With my set bff @that_stunt_dude. I was a non-swimmer till we met!”

A New Chapter in Sheridan’s Life

Before this romance, Sheridan had split from her fiancé, Jamie Horn, in 2021 after a three-year relationship. The couple met on the dating app Tinder and moved into a £1.5 million home in Essex together. They welcomed their son, Billy, in May 2020 before calling it quits.

Now, Sheridan is focusing on her new role in the crime drama The Cage, which has received widespread praise. The five-part series premiered on BBC One on April 26 and is available on iPlayer. The show follows Leanne (played by Sheridan) and Matty (portrayed by Michael Socha), two employees at a casino who discover each other’s financial misdeeds and decide to team up.

Critical Acclaim for The Cage

Critics have been quick to highlight Sheridan’s performance in The Cage. The Telegraph’s Anita Singh praised her as “superb” in the gripping follow-up to The Responder. She noted that Sheridan brings “natural warmth” to her role as Leanne, a single mother caring for a grandmother with dementia and facing eviction.

Socha, who plays Matty, is described as “a lovable loser” with a gambling addiction. Singh also pointed out the show’s opening scene, which features the song “This is the Day,” setting the tone for a story of amateur criminals getting in over their heads.

The Guardian’s Lucy Mangan called The Cage an “astonishing, deeply moving state-of-the-nation thriller.” She highlighted how the show gives a voice to characters often overlooked in crime dramas, contrasting them with those trying to control them.

In contrast, The Times writer Carol Midgley found the premise of The Cage less appealing. She admitted that casinos are not her favorite setting, both in real life and on TV. However, she acknowledged that the show isn’t just about casinos—it’s about the struggles of people in financial trouble and how the world can be rigged against them.

Final Thoughts

With her recent romantic revelations and critical acclaim for The Cage, Sheridan Smith continues to captivate audiences. Her ability to bring depth and authenticity to her roles, combined with her personal experiences, makes her a compelling figure in the entertainment industry. As viewers binge-watch the series, it’s clear that Sheridan’s talent and charisma are shining brighter than ever.
