A Crucial Week for Liverpool
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has expressed his belief that he is receiving a lot of support from the club hierarchy as the team faces a critical period in their season. This includes a Merseyside derby and the second leg of their Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain.
The Reds are currently sitting fifth in the Premier League, just one point ahead of sixth-placed Chelsea in the race for the final Champions League qualification spot. The upcoming fixtures include a match against Fulham at Anfield on Saturday, followed by the second leg against PSG midweek, and then a meeting with Everton on Sunday, 19 April.
Slot described this period as “defining moments” in Liverpool’s season. Despite recent poor performances and results against Manchester City and PSG, he insists that he feels “a lot of support.”
“I’m repeating myself a lot but I feel a lot of support,” explained the Liverpool boss. “Not only from the owners but from Richard [Hughes] and Michael [Michael Edwards], a lot of support from them as well but as weird as it might sound I also feel the support from the fans.”

Slot highlighted the support from the fans after a 4-0 loss to Manchester City, where the fans immediately started singing “we love Liverpool” when the players went out for the warm-up. He noted that even though they were outplayed for 90 minutes, the fans were still singing and clapping for the team.
“I think it’s fair to say we were outplayed for 90 minutes and they were still singing and clapping for us. I’ve said many times, the club knows the period of time we’re in and in the mean time I feel complete support,” added the Dutchman.
Questions have been raised about Slot’s tactics following the loss to City in the FA Cup and a 2-0 defeat to PSG in the first leg of their Champions League tie. However, the Reds still have a chance to salvage something from this season, which could become a defining week for Slot.
“It’s normal at the end of the season, not only for us but for all of the teams. These are defining moments,” he explained. “We’ve given ourselves not the best situation to be in but Paris kept us alive and we’re still in that tie. Two massive games in the league coming up, then four more after that and hopefully more in the Champions League. But first to focus is on Fulham,” he added.
Slot mentioned that there were no new injury updates for the Reds, with goalkeeper Alisson still “working hard to find his way back into the squad.” Meanwhile, Alexander Isak is once again available for selection after a brief cameo against PSG.
