Taylor Frankie Paul on the Harsh Truths of Healing After Charges Dropped

Taylor Frankie Paul Shares Her Journey of Healing After Charges Dropped

After her domestic violence charges were dropped last week, Taylor Frankie Paul has taken a step back from the public eye to focus on her healing process. The star of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and former contestant on The Bachelorette opened up about her experience in a heartfelt Instagram post, sharing her gratitude for her supporters and outlining her next steps.

Paul, who was involved in a controversial incident with her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen, faced significant backlash after a video surfaced showing her throwing a stool at him and hitting one of her children. This led to the cancellation of her role in Season 22 of The Bachelorette, which was scheduled to premiere in March 2023. Despite the turmoil, Paul expressed her appreciation for those who stood by her during this challenging time.

“I’m well aware that’s part of it,” she said in her post. “We’ll get there. This public atrocity that I not only lived through once but twice now, on even a bigger scale was ultimately the cost to my freedom. I wouldn’t wish this upon my worst enemy or even the ones who publicized it.”

She described the emotional toll of the situation, mentioning how she felt as if someone witnessed her bleeding out and poured salt over her wounds. Despite the pain, she found strength in her faith and the support of her community.

“Metaphorically someone witnessed me bleeding out and poured salt all over me… somehow I’m still here.. as we can see barely because I believe God held me through and sent help plus an army which makes me cry because, thank you to all of you that supported even without full context.”

Paul also shared her relief at the news that the charges against her had been dropped. She noted the significance of the timing, stating that it happened exactly seven days after she had waited for a decision. “Those are his numbers symbolic for his plans which I’m nervous to see what’s in store,” she said.

Moving Forward: The Basics of Healing

As she begins her journey toward recovery, Paul emphasized the importance of focusing on the basics. “Steps moving forward are the very basics. We’re working on eating, movement, rest, and retraining the nervous system.”

She announced that she would be sharing her healing process with her followers, hoping that by opening up about her struggles, others might find inspiration in her resilience. “I’ll be sharing the process, because if my worst is shared better bet I’ll share the rebuilding too.”

Background on the Incident

The incident that led to the cancellation of The Bachelorette occurred in March 2023, prompting ABC to pull the show just ahead of its planned premiere. Paul had already entered a guilty plea on one count of aggravated assault related to a previous incident with Mortensen in 2024. More allegations emerged in late March, adding to the controversy surrounding the unscripted romance series.

Despite the challenges, Paul remains under ongoing probation, which could have been revoked if further charges were pursued. A five-year prison sentence was possible for a third-degree felony, highlighting the severity of the situation.

As Taylor Frankie Paul continues to navigate her path to healing, she remains focused on rebuilding her life and supporting her family. Her story serves as a reminder of the complexities of personal struggles and the power of resilience.
