Taylor Swift’s Love Life: From Heartbreak to Fairytale Romance
Taylor Swift is a seriously accomplished woman. She’s the only artist in history to win four Album of Year Grammys. She’s also the only artist to ever occupy the Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Not to mention, NYU granted her an honorary doctorate in fine arts. We could go on and on about how wonderful Taylor is.
And yet, Swifties don’t only want to hear about her various accomplishments. They also want to know about her love life. It makes sense considering that the majority of Taylor’s songs heavily feature themes of romance and heartbreak. So, without further ado, here’s everything you need to know about Taylor Swift’s current boyfriend, Travis Kelce. He’s an American football tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). We’ll also dive into her “long list of ex-lovers…”
Travis and Taylor Go Public with Their Relationship
Travis began a romance with Taylor Swift in July 2023. Travis Kelce admitted on his podcast New Heights that he’d been to see Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. However, he left upset. Why? Turn out, he’d made a friendship bracelet (with his phone number on it) and planned to ‘shoot his shot’ with Taylor. However, security did not allow him to go backstage to give it to her. (For context, Swifties make and trade friendship bracelets at Taylor’s concerts because of the lyrics “so make the friendship bracelets” from her song “You’re On Your Own Kid”.)
“I was a little butthurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her,” Travis jokingly said.
“She doesn’t meet anybody, or at least she didn’t want to meet me, so I took it personal.”
But after making this admission, Taylor reached out to Travis and the two began dating.
On September 24, 2023, they launched their relationship publicly. Taylor came to watch Travis and the Chiefs play against the Chicago Bears while sitting next to Travis’ mum, Donna. Taylor, during a rare interview, spoke of the ‘launch’ and told TIME Magazine in December 2023:
“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell.”
“We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other. By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,” she continued.
“I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
Taylor and Travis Show Up for Each Other
Taylor went on to explain why she and Travis are so ‘public’. In contrast to her previous (and notoriously private) relationship with Joe Alwyn, Travis and Taylor share lots of public displays of affection and support. For instance, on November 11, 2023, Travis attended Taylor’s Buenos Aires leg of the Eras Tour and during the show, Taylor, while performing ‘Karma’, sang “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs,” instead of the original lyrics, “Karma is the guy on the screen.”
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care… We’re just proud of each other,” Taylor says.
She went on to say that her intentions of going to watch Travis play football are pure. She has no idea (nor does she care) if NFL broadcasters are going to pan the cameras on her.
“I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
This was especially evident when Taylor showed up at the 2024 Super Bowl. Travis’ team the Chiefs made it to the NFL championship game, and Taylor flew miles to show up and support her man.
On February 10, 2024, Taylor finished the fourth and final show of the Toyko leg of her Eras Tour and immediately flew to Las Vegas to watch Super Bowl LVIII on February 11. She, along with her close friend Blake Lively, cheered Travis and the team on from the stands. When the Chiefs won, Taylor ran down to the field to congratulate Travis. The two then shared an incredibly sweet kiss.
A viral video of Travis and Taylor celebrating the Chiefs’ win at a Las Vegas nightclub later that night also emerged online. In it, Taylor and Travis are dancing and singing along to her song ‘Love Story’ and she points to him and then herself during the lyrics, “You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the princess.” The two then kiss during the lyrics, “It’s a love story, baby just say yes.”

Travis Calls Taylor the “Best”
In March 2024, Travis made some wholesome comments about Taylor on his podcast. Speaking about his trip to Australia — Travis flew from Vegas to Sydney just to watch Taylor perform the Eras Tour Down Under — he said:
“Taylor is the biggest and the best thing possible.”
What Happened in 2025 with Taylor Swift and Her Boyfriend, Travis?
Taylor is back in her football era as she once again attended one of Travis’ football games. She watched her boyfriend, the Kansas City Chief’s take on and defeat the Buffalo Bills to take their third consecutive Super Bowl. After the win, Taylor rushed to Travis, and the two embraced in celebration.
Swapping football for golf, Travis is going to be the guy on the screen in 2025! He is starring in the Adam Sandler golf flick, Happy Gilmore 2. In a surprise move, Taylor joined Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce, on their new podcast “New Heights”. In the episode, Taylor revealed her upcoming 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. Travis gave his review on the album in the episode, calling it “a lot more upbeat” than her most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department, and Taylor agreed.
She shared that she was working on the album while she was on her Eras tour. Taylor called the process exhausting, but she was very “mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating” the album. Travis said she was “literally living the life of a showgirl” while she wrote it. To which she responded, “Nailed it.”
The new album is out on 3 October.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Get Engaged
On August 27, 2025, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced news of their engagement via Instagram. A series of photos, accompanied by the caption “Your English teacher and and gym teacher are getting married”, showed the two sharing the special moment together. Taylor Swift’s own love ballad “So High School” played over the images – a song allegedly written about the beginnings of her and the football star’s relationship.
After penning love songs for over a decade, it’s only fair that the singer songwriter finally gets to “say yes” to her own “love story’.
Insiders have informed Page Six that the lovebirds could be getting married on the Fourth of July weekend in Manhattan, New York. They added that the NY location would accomodate a larger guest list, including close friends Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid. However, confirmed details on the wedding of the year is yet to come.
