Vivo S60 unveils horizontal camera bar, Snapdragon 8 chip, 7000mAh battery

Exciting Developments in the Mid-Range Smartphone Market

Several prominent Chinese smartphone manufacturers are gearing up to introduce a range of high-performance, camera-centric mid-range devices in China this month. Among these upcoming models are the Honor 600 series, the Oppo Reno 16 series, and the Vivo S60 lineup. Recent leaks have provided insight into what to expect from the latest iteration of Vivo’s S-series, offering a glimpse into the features and design elements that may define the new device.

Key Details Revealed About the Vivo S60

A recent leak by tipster Digital Chat Station has shared important details about an upcoming prototype for the Vivo “S” series. This is expected to be part of the S60 lineup. Last year’s S50 series included the S50 model with a 6.59-inch display and a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, while the S50 Pro Mini came with a smaller 6.32-inch screen and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.

According to the latest information, the upcoming S60 model is expected to feature a 6.59-inch 1.5K display with large-radius corners and a centrally positioned screen design. The size of the display suggests that this could be the standard version of the S60.

The leak also indicates that the S60 will likely include a large horizontal camera matrix on the rear and could be powered by a Snapdragon 8s-series chipset. In terms of battery life, the device is said to have a capacity starting with “7,” which points to a battery in the 7,000mAh range, along with support for 90W fast charging.

Advanced Camera Features and Additional Specifications

For photography, the prototype reportedly includes a Sony IMX8-series mid-sized periscope telephoto sensor. Other notable features expected to be included are a metal middle frame, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, IP68/IP69-rated dust and water resistance, and support for magnetic accessories via magnetic cases.

The tipster further claims that one of the engineering prototype color options is a striking pink shade. Additionally, the device is said to be planned in collaboration with a well-known Chinese anime IP. A previous report suggested that the S60 lineup will have support for a telephoto extender accessory.

Potential Variants and Future Releases

It is possible that the Vivo S60 could be accompanied by the S60 Pro Mini, which may feature a compact design similar to the previous generation. To recall, the S50 Pro Mini was reportedly rebranded as the Vivo X300 FE in markets outside China. Therefore, it is likely that the S60 Pro Mini, if it exists, may be rebadged as the Vivo X500 FE in the first half of 2027.

As more details emerge, tech enthusiasts can stay updated with the latest news and developments in the smartphone industry. Keep an eye out for future releases and innovations that may shape the market in the coming months.
