Watch: 15-Year-Old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Outshines Hazlewood and Bhuvi in Net Practice

A Bold Start from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

In the Indian Premier League 2026 match between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made a strong statement with his performance. Opening the innings for Rajasthan Royals, he showed remarkable confidence against RCB’s experienced pacers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood.

Sooryavanshi started the chase on a positive note, hitting a boundary off the very first ball of the innings. The delivery was a full inswinging yorker, but he managed to bring his bat down and drive it straight past the bowler, sending the ball all the way to the boundary as the mid-off fielder dived in vain.

This was just the beginning of his aggressive approach. He continued his attacking intent by hitting another boundary off the last ball of the first over, ending the over with a score of 10. This display clearly indicated his fearless mindset in a high-pressure situation.

In the next over, which was bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sooryavanshi hit two massive sixes and a four. His performance in that over was nothing short of spectacular, showing his ability to take on even the most formidable bowlers.

A Strong Performance Against Josh Hazlewood

Josh Hazlewood’s much-anticipated return to the field didn’t go as planned. Despite taking the wicket of Jaiswal in his first over, he struggled against Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. In the fourth over, Sooryavanshi faced the Australian pacer and made the most of it, scoring 18 runs off four balls.

Out of the four deliveries he faced, Sooryavanshi hit three consecutive fours in the first three balls, followed by a six to finish the over. This display not only showcased his technical skills but also his mental strength under pressure.

RCB’s Strong Total and RR’s Chase

Earlier in the match, RCB posted a decent total of 202/8. However, the game saw moments of control shifting between the teams. Rajasthan’s bowlers were consistently picking up wickets, but Rajat Patidar’s century kept RCB in the game.

In the death overs, Venkatesh Iyer played some quick runs to push the total further. Now, Rajasthan Royals are in the chase, starting well with Sooryavanshi’s fearless batting at the top of the order.

A Competitive Matchup

With both teams having good opportunities, the match is now anyone’s game. The pitch continues to be favorable for batting, adding to the excitement of the contest.
