Your Weekend Binge List: Three Must-Watch Series Landing Soon
There’s a special kind of joy in settling in for a good binge-watching session. It’s about escaping into different worlds, often with a favourite snack in hand, and letting the stories unfold. This week, I’ve been diving into some exciting new releases, with a particular fondness for crime dramas that delve deep into the pasts of their characters.
From a refreshingly irreverent tropical gothic set against the stunning backdrop of Darwin to a family saga reminiscent of Yellowstone unfolding in rural Montana, and even a bold reimagining of literature’s most famous detective, these shows have completely captured my attention and left me eager for more. If you’ve got a spare weekend on the horizon, consider your plans officially made.
Here are three standout series, exclusively available on Paramount+ and Amazon Prime Video, that you absolutely won’t want to miss.
Deadloch Season 2: Tasmanian Noir Gets Hotter
That’s right, the global phenomenon of Deadloch, the Tasmanian noir series, is back! And for those who appreciated its signature brand of ironically crude humour, you’ll be pleased to know season two delivers even more. From my early viewings, I can confirm that the stakes have been raised considerably, the crimes are stickier, and the character dynamics remain as relatable and engaging as ever.

This latest instalment of the tropical noir takes us from the familiar Tasmanian setting to the starkly beautiful Top End of Australia. Filmed in the actual town of Batchelor, Deadloch season two unfolds in the fictional Northern Territory town of Barra Creek, a locale situated about an hour from Darwin. Imagine red dirt roads, dense, lush canopies, and serene waterways that belie the presence of 65-million-year-old predators lurking beneath the surface.
Speaking with returning actresses Kate Box (who plays Dulcie) and Madeleine Sami (Eddie) this week, they eloquently summarised the essence of the new season in just four words: “Thrushy. Sweaty. Beguiling. Emotional.”
The season kicks off when Eddie’s former policing partner, Bushy, turns up dead, alongside the body of a prominent local figure. This grim discovery immediately throws Dulcie and Eddie into a complex and perilous investigation, one that plunges them headfirst into a croc-infested mystery.
Kate Box shared that her character, Dulcie, is experiencing “a rough adjustment period, physically, emotionally, spiritually, professionally” this season. She elaborated, “She’s flapping on the land, gasping for air. She’s happy to be with Eddie still, but not necessarily acclimatising very well to her new environment, which is fun.”
You can catch the second season, and revisit the critically acclaimed first season, on Amazon Prime Video. Season two is set to premiere on March 20, 2026.
The Madison: A New Montana Saga
This series has been on my radar for quite some time, and the wait is almost over. The Madison, now streaming on Paramount+, was initially conceived as a spin-off from the wildly popular Yellowstone. While developed by the same creative force, Taylor Sheridan, The Madison carves out its own distinct narrative identity.

Set against the breathtaking landscapes of Montana, this neo-Western drama centres on a compelling new story featuring the Clyburn family. Unlike the Duttons who anchor the Yellowstone franchise, The Madison shifts its focus to a different lineage. The series is reportedly exploring themes of grief and human connection in the wake of profound loss, anchored by a central love story guided by the family’s matriarch, portrayed by the incredible Michelle Pfeiffer, and her late husband, played by Kurt Russell. A story with a matriarch at its heart? And that matriarch is Michelle Pfeiffer? Sign me up immediately!

This six-episode series follows the affluent Clyburn family as they make a significant relocation from the bustling streets of New York City to the serene Madison River valley in Montana. From the quiet contemplation of fly-fishing to moments of intense emotional breakdown, I’ve heard this series offers a rich tapestry of experiences. It’s the perfect binge material for the upcoming weekend.
The Madison premiered on March 14, 2026, and is currently available to stream on Paramount+.
Young Sherlock: A Fresh Take on a Classic Detective
The pilot episode of Young Sherlock immediately throws you into the action, with Hero Fiennes Tiffin, stepping into the shoes of a young Sherlock, embroiled in a vigorous boxing match. As a long-time admirer of Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal in the 2009 Sherlock Holmes, I particularly appreciated this early nod to the character’s physicality and intensity.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, whose signature style promises a visually dynamic and engaging experience, this 2026 Amazon Prime series ventures back to the formative years of the legendary detective. It follows a 19-year-old Sherlock Holmes as he navigates a complex web of crimes, accusations, and intrigue while studying at Oxford University.
In a fascinating twist, Sherlock teams up with a young James Moriarty – the man who will become his arch-nemesis, a character familiar to fans of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s original novels. Together, the pair embark on a chaotic yet remarkably clever journey throughout the series, working to clear their names and uncover deeply buried family secrets. For those who crave a familiar story presented with an unexpected and exciting new twist, Young Sherlock should definitely be added to your watchlist.
Young Sherlock premieres on March 4, 2026, and is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
