‘Weird Al’ & Cutie Wife Mark 25 Years

‘Weird Al’ Yankovic and Suzanne Krajewski Mark 25 Years of Marriage

It appears that the enduring partnership between comedic music legend ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic and his wife, Suzanne Krajewski, is stronger than ever. The couple recently celebrated a significant milestone, marking 25 years of wedded bliss. Yankovic, a beloved figure with a substantial social media following of 11.2 million, took to his platforms to share the joyous occasion.

“I married this cutie 25 years ago today,” the 66-year-old comedian announced, accompanying his heartfelt message with a nostalgic throwback photograph. He affectionately wished his wife, “@suzanneyankovicphoto,” a happy anniversary.

A Meeting of Minds and Hearts

The couple’s journey began when they were both in their 40s, introduced by Bill Mumy, known for his role in the classic sci-fi series Lost in Space. Yankovic, a five-time Grammy winner, recalled the early days of their courtship to WIRED in 2008, describing a period of extensive phone conversations that preceded their first face-to-face meeting. “We had this relationship where we talked over the phone for weeks,” he explained. “Going to meet her for our first date, I was like, ‘I hope she’s cute, because I just might marry her!'”

Krajewski, a talented photographer, initially harboured some reservations. In a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone, she confessed, “I thought to myself, ‘Oh, I don’t know about this.’ Then I thought, ‘That’s kind of shallow of me to just be looking at a persona. People are often so different than how they appear.'” Clearly, her initial hesitations were overcome by the genuine connection she found.

Family Life and Artistic Pursuits

The couple’s happiness expanded further with the arrival of their daughter, Nina Yankovic. An accomplished artist in her own right, Nina was set to celebrate her 23rd birthday just days after her parents’ anniversary. Nina recently graduated from Williams College, having earned a degree that spanned environmental studies, studio art, and science and technology studies. Her academic achievements highlight a diverse and intelligent young woman.

With Yankovic’s demanding career, particularly his upcoming “Bigger & Weirder Tour” – a substantial 90-date commitment kicking off on May 26th at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida – Krajewski often finds herself with time to herself. However, their daughter remains a frequent presence in their lives. Yankovic shared on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast in 2022 that Nina visits “every few weeks, whenever she wants to get out of town.” He amusingly noted her selective approach to his tour schedule, explaining, “She looks at the itinerary [and decides]…She’ll see Boise and [say] ‘Eh.'”

Humour in the Face of Mortality

In typical ‘Weird Al’ fashion, the polka-loving star recently brought his signature humour to a more macabre topic. Appearing on David Dastmalchian’s podcast Grave Conversations, Yankovic shared a lighthearted exchange with his wife regarding his end-of-life preferences.

“You know, my wife asks me all the time, you know, not all the time, but she’s more than once asked me, ‘Do you want to be uh buried or cremated?'” Yankovic recounted. His typically whimsical response? “And I always say, ‘I don’t know, honey. Surprise me.'”

He continued to playfully jest about donating his organs for medical science, even joking about his family cutting him up and selling his remains on eBay to help out. “For sure, the hair,” the Emmy-winning producer quipped. Adding another layer of absurdity, he declared, “And Jeff Bezos is gonna have a cereal bowl made out of my skull. We just closed that deal. So that’s done. So I’m excited about that.”

A Career of Wholesome Parody

Throughout his illustrious career, ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic has built a reputation for crafting brilliant parodies of hit songs. His public persona has consistently been that of a wholesome vegetarian, known for abstaining from profanity, alcohol, and drugs. This dedication to a clean image has resonated with millions, contributing to his enduring appeal.

The music video maestro has achieved remarkable commercial success, selling over 12 million records worldwide. His music continues to captivate audiences, with a consistent monthly listenership of 1.2 million on Spotify, proving that his unique brand of humour and musical talent remains as relevant and popular as ever.
