Why Bindi Irwin missed the Steve Irwin gala again this year

Terri and Robert Irwin Share Insights on Bindi’s Absence from Steve Irwin Gala

Terri Irwin and her son Robert Irwin have shared details about why Bindi Irwin missed the third annual Steve Irwin Gala this year. The event, held in Las Vegas on Saturday evening, saw the family making a red carpet appearance, with Terri and Robert both looking their best.

During the event, Terri, 61, revealed that Bindi, 27, is currently taking time to rest and recover as she continues to battle endometriosis. This marks the second consecutive year that Bindi has missed the gala, having also been absent last year due to a ruptured appendix.

Speaking to E! News at the event, Terri explained that Bindi is staying close to home for now. “This year she’s just staying a little close to home,” she said. “So, things like a lot of travel are a bit challenging for her at the moment and so she’ll be here next year to celebrate this wonderful night. Bindi is doing so much better now.”

Robert, 22, added that his sister is “holding down the fort” back at Australia Zoo in Queensland. He also shared a post on social media following the gala, highlighting the event’s success in raising funds and awareness for the charity founded by his parents. “It was a room full of friends and family gathering together to celebrate the life and legacy of my Dad. His passion, and message lives on. Thank you to everyone who joined us last night to support @wildlifewarriorsworldwide,” he wrote.

Red Carpet Appearance

At the gala, Terri and Robert chose to step away from their usual khaki attire and instead opted for more formal wear. Terri turned heads in a vibrant floral dress, while Robert looked sharp in a black suit and tie. They were joined by American actress Danielle Fishel, 44, known for her role in the iconic show Boy Meets World.

Bindi’s Health Struggles

In March, Bindi opened up about her ongoing battle with endometriosis, sharing a candid post that detailed her medical journey. She revealed that she had 50 lesions removed and even a chocolate cyst, which is a fluid-filled sac. She also mentioned undergoing an appendectomy and a hernia repair.

“An appendectomy and a hernia repair,” she said she also had. “I’ve felt indescribable, inescapable pain. Trying to keep my invisible illness to myself after being told by doctors it was just ‘part of being a woman.’ I spent 10 years being undiagnosed.”

Bindi emphasized the importance of seeking answers for those suffering in silence. “No one deserves to suffer in silence… If you’re in pain, my heart breaks for you. I believe you. Please find answers. And don’t give up on yourself. I know how hard that can be.”

Support and Awareness

The Steve Irwin Gala continues to be a significant event in honoring the legacy of Steve Irwin, who was known for his passion for wildlife conservation. The event not only celebrates his life but also raises vital funds for the Wildlife Warriors organization.
