Wisconsin Badgers’ New Addition Sparks Excitement
Two prominent members of the Wisconsin Badgers have taken to social media to express their reactions to the program’s latest transfer commitment. The newest addition to the team is forward Victory Onuetu, who has made a significant move from Hofstra to join the Badgers.
Onuetu’s journey began in the 2025-26 season at Hofstra, marking his first experience at the collegiate level. During that time, he played in 35 games, starting 17 of them. His performance included an average of 17.9 minutes per game, scoring 4.7 points, and grabbing 6.9 rebounds. He also showcased his shooting ability by hitting 56% of his shots from the floor.
Standing at 6-foot-10, Onuetu has previously played professional basketball overseas, most notably as a teammate of Brad Davison with Monbus Obradoiro during the 2024-25 season. He now joins the Badgers with a final year of eligibility remaining, which adds to the excitement surrounding his commitment.
Davison, who is currently an assistant coach for the Badgers, was among the first to express his enthusiasm about Onuetu’s decision. On X, he wrote, “Boom!! Welcome to the Badger Family.” He added, “Excited for Badger Nation to Watch Him Compete at the Highest Level.” Davison’s influence on Onuetu’s recruitment was evident, as he played a key role in bringing the forward to Madison.
The talented forward is set to join a frontcourt rotation that includes Nolan Winter and Austin Rapp. If Rapp decides to return for his senior season, Onuetu will compete with him for starting minutes alongside Winter. This development could significantly impact the team’s dynamics and performance.
Another notable former Badger, Sam Dekker, also shared his thoughts on Onuetu’s commitment. On X, he mentioned, “Had a chance to get to know & play with Victory in the 2024/25 season in Spain; he was a practice squad player for our club.” Dekker highlighted Onuetu’s potential, stating, “His raw potential was through the roof, I couldn’t get over the physicality he brought to the floor at a young age.”
He continued, “It made me excited to see him just starting to scratch the surface before heading to the States last year. More importantly, he is a terrific kid and will be an impactful player in the ways Wisconsin hasn’t had in many years! Great job to the staff on a BIG get.”
Onuetu is the second transfer commitment for the Badgers this offseason, following the addition of George Washington guard Trey Autry. However, the team’s work in the transfer portal is far from complete. They are still looking to replace the top-end production of star guards John Blackwell and Nick Boyd.
According to both Davison and Dekker, Onuetu’s addition is a significant boost for the team’s rotation. His skills and potential could make a substantial difference in the Badgers’ performance moving forward.
As the Badgers continue to build their roster, the excitement around Onuetu’s commitment is palpable. Fans and analysts alike are eager to see how he will contribute to the team’s success in the upcoming seasons.
