Ajayi to Miss Two Months

Hull City Defender Semi Ajayi Suffers Hamstring Injury

Hull City defender Semi Ajayi has been ruled out for the next two months following a hamstring injury sustained during Nigeria’s third-place match at the Africa Cup of Nations. The 31-year-old player limped off in added time during the Super Eagles’ victory over Egypt on Sunday, and subsequent scans confirmed the severity of the injury.

The injury is expected to keep Ajayi sidelined for approximately seven weeks, which marks another significant setback for Hull City. The Championship promotion chasers have already been dealing with several key absences, including long-term injuries to Mo Belloumi and Darko Gyabi in recent weeks. This latest loss adds to the challenges faced by manager Sergej Jakirovic as he looks to guide his team toward their promotion goals.

Despite the setbacks, Hull City managed to secure three crucial points on the road, defeating Preston North End 3-0. Goals from Liam Millar, Akin Famewo, and Oli McBurnie helped the team secure the win. However, the match was not without its own challenges.

David Akintola had to be substituted early in the second half due to cramp and was replaced by debutant Yu Hirakawa. Hirakawa immediately made an impact, setting up McBurnie’s goal. John Egan also departed the field in added time due to cramp, but both players are expected to be available for the weekend’s fixtures.

Kyle Joseph missed Tuesday night’s match due to an ankle problem sustained during a previous game against Southampton. He is now in a race against time to return for the upcoming match when Hull City host Swansea City. The club remains hopeful that Joseph will be fit enough to play.

Additionally, Hull City hopes that Ryan Giles will be able to return to the squad for the match against Blackburn Rovers next Saturday. His potential return would provide a much-needed boost to the team’s lineup.
