Bulldogs Coach Cameron Ciraldo Considers Changes After Another Loss
Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo has not ruled out making changes to his team following another defeat against the Dolphins. The loss saw the Bulldogs drop to 13th on the table, marking their sixth consecutive loss. The Dolphins dominated the second half, securing a 44-12 victory.
Ciraldo acknowledged that discipline is a significant issue for his team, but he admitted he struggles to understand where some of the penalties are coming from. He described them as an “easy target” at the moment.
Ciraldo confirmed he will be asking questions and seeking clarity with officials about what his side can do to stop inside 20 penalties, including offsides.
He praised his forwards, believing there have been “soft decisions” on the edges from his players. Fullback Connor Tracey will face scrutiny after missing five tackles, with some of those mistakes leading to tries against the Bulldogs. Winger Jonathan Sua also missed five tackles, while Bronson Xerri and Stephen Crichton each missed three.
When asked about Tracey’s difficult night, Ciraldo believed there was only one way to address the issue.
“Yep. The only way you can fix that is go to training and get it sorted, and that’s what we’ll do,” he said.
Focus on Training and Development
As for potential changes, Ciraldo admitted that his side is currently hampered by injuries. However, he emphasized that he will be closely watching the reserve grade team.
“Not in our forwards, they’re doing a great job. Our NSW Cup team plays on Saturday, we’ve got a lot of young guys in there at the moment, a lot of our injuries are in the outside backs, we’re missing a few blokes. But if one of our young blokes in NSW Cup wants to put their hand up because there is going to be an opportunity there for them,” he said.
“If they want to stay in the system and put their body on the line, we’re looking for guys that want to do that.”
Looking Ahead
The Bulldogs’ next challenge will test their resilience and ability to adapt. With key players sidelined and a need for improved performance, Ciraldo’s focus remains on developing talent within the system.
The coach’s approach highlights the importance of both immediate fixes and long-term development. As the team looks to bounce back, the emphasis will be on discipline, defensive improvements, and nurturing young talent.
