Erika Kirk Shamed for Using Kids as ‘Props’ After Husband’s Murder: ‘You Disgust Me’

Erika Kirk has once again found herself in the spotlight, this time for sharing a heartfelt Instagram post that highlights her life with her two children. The widow of Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative podcaster, posted a detailed message on Wednesday, May 6, reflecting on the “blessings” that continue to shape her life following her husband’s tragic death.

Charlie Kirk was shot and killed while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University in September 2025. In her post, Erika shared several photos and videos featuring her and Charlie’s children, capturing moments of joy and connection.

She wrote, “The blessings hidden in ordinary days. The blessings in adventures with my little love captured backstage.” Her captions also included reflections on the love and support she receives from her team, as well as memories of visits with family members.

Erika continued, “The blessings of seeing you always filled with such joy.” She referenced a clip of Charlie eating In-N-Out Burger before his murder, highlighting how these small moments are now cherished memories.

“The blessings of maintaining weekend traditions with that same food. The blessings of having the best little buddy for daily Bible readings with BIBLEin365,” she added.

In closing, Erika wrote, “The blessings of our little family; hand in hand…we promise to make you proud daddy. We love you endlessly.”

While many supporters left kind messages beneath her post, others criticized Erika, accusing her of using her children to gain sympathy. Some users questioned the authenticity of her posts, suggesting they were designed to manipulate public perception.

One comment read, “Wow! Now the kids are props. Nice product placement with the chips!!” Another user wrote, “Every single post feels more performative and manufactured than the last.”

A third individual remarked, “Soooo, you got mad because people kept saying that you were never with your kids so you had to post a bunch of pictures and videos with your kids… got it.” A fourth user ridiculed Erika, stating, “She scraped up the only 8 photos she has with the kids since Charlie passed. It is so performative. It’s like as soon as she’s accused of not being a supportive mom, she posts 8 random photos and expects everyone to believe this is real???? It’s so obvious how performative and manufactured this is.”

Another critic wrote, “I’m saying this as a GOP operative and press secretary with 25 years experience. And as a person who knew these conservative figures before the movement became huge: it’s puzzling and tacky to go on a full nation-wide press tour after your husband was assassinated and you have 2 babies at home. Yes, I’m judging you for attending that WHCD. I’ve been to dozens of those dinners, and so have you. You showed up for the optics and attention. Because you think it makes you look like a hero. It doesn’t. Godspeed to those babies. ❤️.”

Some users questioned the emotional manipulation behind Erika’s posts, with one writing, “Emotionally manipulative so if photographer was right there to capture this and funds to do it. The moment should be shared by the child, if they choose to. Not by the mother to emotionally manipulate her way out of all the lies and destruction of turning point.”

Another user admitted, “As a die hard republican you disgust me. You had a plan and your wish came true. You never loved Charlie. You wanted his power.”

One troll mocked, “Is the first image AI? Chatgpt prompt: Create an image of a grieving widow. Do NOT include leather pants, sequined jackets and pyrotechnics.” Another confessed, “Unfortunately these posts always feel like damage control.”

The debate around Erika’s posts continues to highlight the challenges faced by public figures dealing with grief and public scrutiny.
