Erin Holland Shares Her Fertility Journey and Excitement Over Pregnancy
Australian model and TV presenter, Erin Holland, has shared the exciting news of her pregnancy. The revelation comes after years of trying to conceive with her husband, cricketer Ben Cutting. Their journey has been anything but easy, marked by numerous challenges and emotional hurdles.
Holland and Cutting have been attempting to start a family for five years, and their experiences have been detailed on the Something To Talk About podcast. During the episode, she opened up about the difficulties they faced, including 20 rounds of IVF, five egg collections, seven transfers, four miscarriages, and one ectopic pregnancy.
“I think the hard part about infertility and pregnancy loss is that beautiful naivety of just seeing a double line on a pregnancy test is robbed from you because the first time you do it, it’s elation, it’s so exciting,” she said. “Then the second time you do it, you’re cautiously excited. By the third and the fourth time, you think it’s catfishing you.”
Despite the excitement of her current pregnancy, Holland admitted that she still feels cautious about the process. Her past struggles have made it difficult to fully believe in the reality of her situation.
A Long and Painful Journey
Just nine months ago, Holland shared a candid post on Instagram about her fertility journey. She described the emotional and physical toll it has taken on her.
“Many losses, many failed transfers down, today was all about exploratory surgery, internal ‘renovations’ & starting testing from scratch again to try & find some answers to the soul destroying unknown,” she wrote.
Infertility, she explained, feels like being stuck outside a club you desperately want to enter. “Infertility feels like your face is pressed up against the glass of a club you so badly want to be a part of, but no one is letting you in.”
She also offered words of encouragement to others going through similar struggles. “To all going through it, life can be tough … but my darling, so are you. Hang in there.”
Financial Strain and Determination
On the recent episode of the Something To Talk About podcast, Holland revealed the financial burden of their fertility journey.
“I added it up, and it’s horrible,” she said. “It’s a house deposit. We’ve spent $150,000, which is worth every penny if it works out, but so often it doesn’t.”
Despite the financial strain, the couple has never considered giving up. Holland shared that her pregnancy didn’t feel real until the 14-week mark. Now, past 20 weeks, she has started to experience major milestones.
“I’m starting to feel movement,” she shared. “It’s an absolute bloody miracle to be honest.”
A New Chapter
Holland’s journey has been both heartbreaking and inspiring. Her openness about the challenges of fertility treatments has resonated with many people who have gone through similar experiences.
Through her story, she has shown incredible strength and resilience. Her pregnancy is not just a personal milestone but also a symbol of hope for others facing similar struggles.
As she continues her journey, Holland remains grateful for the support she has received and the progress she has made. Her story serves as a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is always the possibility of new beginnings.
