MAFS Drama: Gia Breaks Silence on Dinner Party Chaos and Production Influence
The fallout from Wednesday night’s explosive Married At First Sight dinner party continues to reverberate, with bride Gia finally breaking her silence on the events that unfolded. Speaking to Fifi, Fev & Nick on The Fox on Thursday morning, February 19, Gia offered her perspective on the behind-the-scenes tensions and her own conduct. Later that same evening, fellow participant Brook also issued an apology via Instagram, though many viewers remain unconvinced, particularly after footage from Stan’s After the Dinner Party aired on February 18, offering a different narrative.
The recent dinner party left viewers demanding explanations and accountability, and Gia’s interview provided some insight into the escalating drama. While she readily admits to not being “proud of [her] behaviour,” Gia also staunchly defended Brook, describing her as a “beautiful person.” Gia suggested that the show’s editing doesn’t fully capture the extent of manipulation and external pressures influencing the participants. Crucially, she also addressed a burning question on many fans’ minds: the reality of alcohol consumption at the dinner parties.
The Question of Alcohol Limits at MAFS Dinner Parties
According to Gia’s account, Brook was significantly affected by alcohol during the dinner party. Gia stated that Brook was “three champagne bottles deep,” “rolling her eyes,” “fired up,” and “drunk as” after a prolonged wait to make her dramatic entrance. Gia expressed her belief that Brook “shouldn’t have been put on air” in that state.
When asked directly about alcohol limits, Gia claimed, “There wasn’t at all.” This assertion directly contradicts previous statements made about the show’s production. Season 10 bride Alyssa Barmonde previously told Yahoo Lifestyle in 2024 that producers “really monitor your alcohol content” at these events. Barmonde explained that excessive intoxication could lead to footage being unusable, stating, “If you’re slurring your words and you’re really messy, they can’t use that footage.”
The events of Wednesday night’s dinner party, however, seemed to disregard any such guidelines, with numerous cast members exhibiting clear signs of inebriation. Despite the potential role of alcohol in escalating the situation, fans are largely unwilling to accept it as a sole excuse for the behaviour witnessed. Many commented that “Being drunk only reveals what is hidden inside. Not a good excuse.”

Fans Unconvinced by the ‘Edit Excuse’
Another defence that has failed to win over the viewing public is the claim of “bad editing.” Gia suggested that both she and Brook were encouraged by producers to “bring it,” with implied consequences if they didn’t. This raises significant questions for Channel Nine, especially as viewers express their disillusionment with the show. However, the extent to which actions can truly be “manipulated” remains a point of contention.
One fan articulated the common sentiment: “As far as her behaviour at the dinner party, she doesn’t explain any of it, only excuses it to alcohol and being egged on by others. What about every other occasion of the same behaviour? And what about every other cast member this year and the previous 12 years didn’t behave like that in the exact same environment?” The prevailing opinion is that the truth can only be stretched so far, and for many, Brook’s behaviour, and that of others, is now revealing their true colours.

Gia’s Decision to Stop Watching MAFS
Gia herself confessed that she has stopped watching the show, finding it “frustrating” and “hard” to see how events are portrayed. She revealed to Fifi, Fev & Nick that she now relies on friends to update her on what happens in each episode. “They said it was really bad,” she shared, adding, “It’s just been so difficult for me because there were a lot of things that went on in production that – for me and Brook – was why we were acting as bad as we were.”
Gia described herself and Brook as “production puppets,” implying they followed instructions to create drama. “We took it up a notch that dinner party,” she admitted. “I’m really not proud of my behaviour.”
Taking Accountability, or Just Another Cop-Out?
While Gia continues to highlight the potential bias in the show’s final edits, she does acknowledge her own culpability. Speaking on The Fox, she stated, “There’s always edits, but Brook and I were horrible.” This admission of responsibility has been met with some appreciation.
However, Brook’s apology post, released on February 19, has also faced scrutiny. On Stan’s After the Dinner Party, Alissa revealed that Brook’s initial apology text was perceived as inauthentic and lacking genuine accountability. On the surface, both Gia and Brook appear to be accepting criticism, but the question remains whether these apologies are truly taking responsibility or simply another attempt to deflect blame.

Gia expressed her view that “everyone was just the worst version of themselves honestly on the show.” Despite the ongoing drama and criticisms, Gia remains a staunch supporter of Brook, reiterating to Fifi, Fev & Nick that “she’s a beautiful person.” She explained, “Brook was beautiful in the beginning, everyone loved Brook, but there was a point in time where Brook was over the things that were happening behind-the-scenes and she snapped, and as her friend, I went along with it.”
