Stranger Things Star David Harbour Absent from Co-Star’s Wedding Amid Personal Drama
While many of his Stranger Things castmates gathered in New York City to celebrate the nuptials of Maya Hawke, actor David Harbour was conspicuously absent from the star-studded affair. The 50-year-old actor, known for his role as Jim Hopper, was reportedly spotted in the city on Valentine’s Day with an unidentified woman, a stark contrast to his colleagues who were honouring Hawke’s marriage to musician Christian Lee Hutson.
The wedding, held at St. George’s Episcopal Church in New York City, saw a significant turnout from the popular Netflix series. Attendees included Sadie Sink (23), Finn Wolfhard (23), Joe Keery (33), Caleb McLaughlin (24), Gaten Matarazzo (23), and Natalia Dyer (31). Maya Hawke’s renowned parents, actors Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, both 55, were also present, alongside fellow actors Sam Nivola and Kathryn Newton.

Harbour’s absence from the wedding comes at a turbulent time in his personal life. He is currently in the midst of divorce proceedings with his estranged wife, English singer-actress Lily Allen, 40. The pair separated a year ago, and the divorce is ongoing. On the day of Hawke’s wedding, Harbour was photographed sporting an olive green peacoat and a blue cap, accompanied by a red-haired woman.
This personal upheaval coincides with reports of an investigation into Harbour’s conduct on the set of Stranger Things. In November, it was revealed that show officials had questioned Harbour following a complaint lodged by his younger co-star, Millie Bobby Brown, 21.
Allegations of Misconduct and Harbour’s Perspective
According to sources cited by the Daily Mail in November, Millie Bobby Brown filed a harassment and bullying claim prior to the commencement of filming for the final season of the series. The source claimed that the accusations were extensive, with “pages and pages of accusations,” and that the subsequent investigation spanned several months.
Harbour himself has previously addressed his relationship with Brown. In a 2021 appearance on the podcast That Scene with Dan Patrick, he described a unique dynamic with his young co-star. “Millie and I have always had sort of a special relationship because I knew her when she was so young,” Harbour explained. “I knew her before any of this big fame hit. I have a real protective feeling for her. I have a real, like, worry. I worry about her and the fame and all that she has to struggle with.”
Lily Allen’s Accusations and Musical Allusions
The bullying claims surfaced amid the ongoing drama surrounding Harbour’s separation from Lily Allen. Allen has seemingly alluded to infidelity on Harbour’s part in her music. Her album West End Girl features tracks, including “Tennis” and “Madeline,” which appear to reference a three-year affair and numerous infidelities by the Emmy-nominated actor.

Lily Allen shares two daughters, Ethel (14) and Marnie (12), with her ex-husband, Sam Cooper.
Harbour’s Reflections on Life Choices
When asked by Esquire Spain last autumn about what he would change in his life, Harbour offered a philosophical response, grappling with the concept of regret. “That’s such a hard question – the question of regret, or something,” he stated. “I would change either everything or nothing.”
He elaborated on this sentiment, suggesting that accepting one’s life path in its entirety is crucial. “You either accept your path completely and realise that even the pain and the slip-ups and the mistakes are all part of the journey, and that there’s truth and growth, wisdom and deeper empathy and connection in all that,” Harbour explained. “It’s kind of like a house of cards, the minute you try to change one thing you kind of have to change it all.” His current personal circumstances certainly present a complex tapestry of decisions and consequences that he may be reflecting upon.
