A Heartfelt Farewell
Jamie-Lynn Sigler, best known for her role as Meadow Soprano in the iconic HBO series The Sopranos, has shared a deeply personal moment from the funeral of her co-star James Gandolfini. The actor, who played her on-screen father Tony Soprano, passed away in 2013 after a sudden heart attack at the age of 51. Sigler, now 44, reflected on the final words she spoke to Gandolfini during the ceremony held at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in New York City.
“I said, ‘Thank you,’” she recalled. “Thank you for loving me, thank you for seeing me, for caring for me, and for making me feel safe.” These heartfelt words were revealed in her new memoir, And So It Is…, which offers an intimate look into her life and career.
A Legacy of Love and Support
Gandolfini was not only a co-star but also a close friend and mentor to Sigler. The actress described him as the “sun that we all revolved around,” emphasizing how his presence shaped the entire experience of The Sopranos. His passing marked the end of an era for the cast and crew, with many expressing their grief during the somber ceremony.
Sigler also shared how Gandolfini supported her through a difficult time in her life. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 25 years ago, and he was one of the few people she confided in about her struggles. “Sometimes, if we were at a cast party or a charity event, he would pull me aside and be like, ‘How’s the MS? Tell me what’s going on.’ But never at work and never in front of anybody,” she explained. This quiet support helped her navigate the challenges of living with the condition.
Life Beyond the Screen
In addition to her acting career, Sigler has built a fulfilling life outside of the spotlight. She is married to Cutter Dykstra, a Hotaling Insurance Services advisor, and they have two sons, Beau and Jack. The couple moved to Austin, Texas, in 2021 and have been raising their family there ever since.
Despite her mobility challenges, Sigler continues to pursue her passions. She uses a mobility scooter to get around and is currently on a book tour for And So It Is…, which includes a stop at LiveTalks LA in California this Thursday night. She also recently announced a recurring role in the third season of Shane Gillis’ Netflix sitcom Tires, set in a Pennsylvania auto repair chain.
A Bright Future Ahead
Sigler is also preparing for a special performance at a Pediatric Cardiology Research benefit concert featuring the music of How I Met Your Mother played by The Solids. The event will take place on June 20 at The Bowery Ballroom in Lower Manhattan and will include performances by Josh Radnor and Will Forte.

As she continues to share her story and support causes close to her heart, Sigler remains a powerful voice in the entertainment industry and beyond. Her journey, both on and off the screen, is a testament to resilience, gratitude, and the importance of connection.
