Unexpected Cancellation and Return to Australia
Adam Hyde, known in the music industry as Keli Holiday, was forced to abruptly cancel his New York show and return to Australia after being denied re-entry into the United States. The award-winning Australian artist was scheduled to perform across four dates on his first North American tour. However, following his third show in Toronto on May 6, Hyde found himself unexpectedly detained at the Canadian border mid-tour.
The Dancing2 singer expressed his disappointment over the cancellation, addressing his fans on Instagram. “Hello stunnas, unfortunately I’m not going to make it to tonight’s show at Baby’s All Right in NYC,” he began in a statement posted to his Stories. He explained that he had spent the entire day detained at the Canadian border and was denied entry back into the US despite having the proper visa documentation in place. “I’m still trying to get clarity on the situation myself,” he added.
“I’m honestly gutted… I hate letting people down.”
Fans responded with support on social media, showing their disappointment and encouragement. One follower wrote, “Gotta make nyc happen next go 🤘,” while another said, “Missed you in NY.” A third commented, “America doesn’t deserve you and Australia is thrilled to have you back.”
Hyde shared a close-up of his suitcase and an airport arrival ticket with the simple caption “home,” confirming his return to Australia. He is now preparing for the next leg of his tour, which will start on Thursday, May 14, in Manly, NSW. The tour will continue across Victoria and Tasmania before kicking off his UK tour in Dublin, Ireland.
Previous Cancellations and Miscommunications
This isn’t the first time Hyde has had to cancel a performance due to unforeseen circumstances. Earlier this year, the singer pulled out of his performance at the Royal Randwick’s Championships Day just 24 hours after the gig was announced.
In a post on his Instagram Story, Hyde explained the mishap by sharing a video of a woman dancing at one of his gigs with text over the top. “Not playing the races FYI,” he confirmed at the time. He attributed the cancellation to miscommunication within his team, stating that the gig was booked during the chaotic end of last year and was not the fault of the Australian Turf Club (ATC). “Apologies all around,” he added.
Hyde’s team has not yet responded to inquiries about the recent cancellation, but fans remain supportive as the artist works through the challenges of his international tour.
