Maya Jama returns as host in Love Island’s World Cup teaser

Love Island Returns with Maya Jama as Host

The latest season of Love Island is set to make a splash this summer, and the first glimpse into the upcoming series has already generated excitement among fans. Maya Jama has been confirmed to return as the host, bringing her energetic presence to the sun-soaked villa in Mallorca.

The World Cup-themed teaser featured a beach ball bouncing into a football stadium, with fans cheering in the background. This visual hint suggests that the series might air during the FIFA tournament, which runs from June 11 to July 19 in North America. ITV has officially announced that Maya will be back to guide viewers through all the drama, twists, and romantic developments happening in the villa.

In a statement, ITV described the new series as “the ultimate game of love,” where a fresh group of Islanders will have to “couple up or clear out” as they face challenges and emotional moments. The network also teased that the season will feature “unexpected arrivals, shifting loyalties, and sparks flying,” promising even more unforgettable moments.

Maya’s involvement in the show has not only been about hosting. She was reportedly the first star approached by the producers of Celebrity Traitors, a move aimed at attracting a younger audience. Her decision to take on the role came after she fell in love with the show while watching it with her boyfriend, Rúben Dias. Despite a significant pay cut—reducing her fee from £760,000 to £40,000—she was eager to participate.

A source close to Maya said: “She loved watching the first Celebrity Traitors series at home with boyfriend Rúben and is so excited to get filming. She can’t wait to do some fibbing and be as deceitful as possible to try to win it.” The timing also worked well for her, as she could transition directly from filming Celebrity Traitors in Scotland to the Love Island villa in Majorca in June.

New Cast Members and Big Budget Changes

The second season of Celebrity Traitors has officially been announced, with a star-studded lineup including Jerry Hall, Richard E Grant, and Romesh Ranganathan. Maya was top of the producers’ wish list, not only for her charisma but also for her ability to attract a younger demographic through her work on Love Island.

Meanwhile, the BBC has reportedly doubled its budget for the second and most star-studded series yet. This increase is evident in the way the stars are being transported to the highlands—using planes and private jets instead of trains, as was the case in previous years. The production team has also upgraded security measures to protect the stars and keep the castle’s activities confidential.

According to a source, “Although most of the stars are British, so many of them are used to working in America that their teams are used to the treatment.” The production team has had to accommodate these demands, as the number of A-listers participating this year makes it an exceptional event.

Alan Carr and Sir Stephen Fry were also seen traveling in chauffeur-driven cars this year, a change from the minibus used in the previous season. The increased budget has allowed for a more luxurious and secure environment for the contestants.

The BBC has not yet commented on the changes, but the heightened production values and star power suggest that this season will be one of the most anticipated yet. With more drama, bigger budgets, and a mix of beloved and new faces, fans can expect a thrilling experience as the series prepares to hit screens later this year.
