Mohamed Salah Reflects on His Decision to Leave Liverpool
Mohamed Salah has expressed that he is at peace with his decision to leave Liverpool, emphasizing that he hasn’t aged overnight and still has a lot to offer. The Egyptian star will be departing the Reds after an impressive nine-year stint, during which he has achieved remarkable success, breaking numerous records and winning every available trophy, along with several individual accolades.
Salah recently opened up about his physical condition, his decision to leave Liverpool, and his potential return from a minor hamstring injury. He stated, “I feel good, body-wise I feel all right. I didn’t become old overnight. Last season I had this incredible season, I think I have a lot to give and I will see what is the best for me.”
He added, “To go through the season, I feel like this is the right thing to do now and I have peace with it. The season was tough for all of us. I don’t want to say much.”

During a heartfelt interview with TNT Sport, former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard shared some insights into his advice for Salah. Gerrard visited Salah’s home in January and encouraged him to leave the club on his own terms, which Salah has now done by reaching an agreement to depart on a free transfer.
Salah said, “People didn’t know you came to my house, we had a good conversation. You said your opinion and I really appreciate it. I am glad I am leaving now through the big door. That is something you mentioned to me, just leave on your terms, I still remember those words. I am happy about it. Everything that is going on this season makes me think, ‘No it’s time to go’.”
Despite limping off with a hamstring injury during the win over Crystal Palace last Saturday, Salah remains hopeful of making at least one final appearance in a Liverpool shirt. He commented, “Honestly physically I feel I have a lot to give. I played many games this season. I haven’t decided what I am going to do yet, I have a lot of good options. Physically I feel fine, I feel what I did over the years paid off, I feel good.”
He continued, “I will see what is best for me. For sure, the injury is fine. I will hopefully be back (before Brentford).”
