Rachael Ray Steps Out in Miami, Sporting a Noticeably Slimmer Figure
Renowned chef and television personality Rachael Ray turned heads on Thursday evening as she attended Mike’s Amazing Burger Bash, a culinary event presented by Schweid & Sons in Miami. The 57-year-old star, dressed in a chic, long black Adidas dress, appeared significantly thinner, sparking conversations about her recent transformation.

Functional nutritionist Dr. Wilks, based in California, commented on Ray’s appearance, suggesting she has lost “at least 10lbs.” He noted, “Her face is thinner and so is her waistline. Rachael seems more svelte than she was a year ago.” Dr. Wilks posited that Ray’s noticeable weight loss could be attributed to a dietary shift. “It looked like she has cut out carbs and has been on a protein and vegetable heavy diet while staying away from processed foods.”
The Enduring Appeal of the Mediterranean Diet
For many years, Rachael Ray has been a vocal advocate for the Mediterranean Diet, a way of eating inspired by the traditional culinary practices of Italy, her ancestral homeland. This diet is celebrated for its simplicity and abundance of nutrient-rich foods.
- Key Components of the Mediterranean Diet:
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Beans
- Nuts
- Whole grains
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Moderate consumption of fish and poultry
Dr. Wilks elaborated on the diet’s benefits, stating, “It is an easy diet in many ways because it sticks to fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, whole grains and extra virgin olive oil, with moderate fish and poultry consumption.” He also highlighted its positive impact on overall health, adding, “It is also great for your health because it reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, promotes longevity. Red meat is eaten only once in a while.”

A Star-Studded Event
Ray was not alone at the star-studded event. She was accompanied by fellow guests Brooklyn Beckham and Ashley Graham, adding to the celebrity buzz. Ray also shared a warm moment with her husband of nearly two decades, John M. Cusimano, whom she married in 2005. The couple, who divide their time between their homes in New York and Italy, appeared to be in high spirits. An eyewitness at the Miami event noted that Ray was “in great spirits” and happily addressed the crowd on stage, even taking the opportunity to introduce her friend, Brooklyn Beckham.
Ray’s Philosophy on Healthy Eating
Rachael Ray has long championed the Mediterranean Diet, discussing its benefits on various platforms. A decade ago, during an appearance on “Dr. Oz,” she described the diet as “heart healthy,” explaining that it “lowers the risk of heart disease and you can live longer.” She also mentioned its potential to reduce the risk of dementia.
Ray has also shared practical advice on how to stock a pantry for this healthy eating style, emphasizing its ease and enjoyment. She showcased an array of staples, including:
- Olive oil: A cornerstone of the diet.
- Tomatoes: Both fresh and canned varieties.
- Dried grains: Such as beans and farro, highlighting that canned options are convenient and still high in nutrients.
- Herbs and pasta: Essential components for flavourful meals.
“Dried beans and grains like farro, all of these you can get in a can,” she advised, noting their high protein and fiber content. “They are high protein, high fiber and nutrient dense,” she added.

Ray also stressed the importance of consuming a “rainbow of vegetables,” stating, “You don’t need a multi vitamin, you need the rainbow of vegetables.” She also shared a unique tip about her salad-eating habits, explaining that she consumes her salad after her main meal, a practice Dr. Oz found to be “smart” for digestion.
Other protein sources Ray favors include:
- Eggs: Described as nutrient-rich and affordable, with a preference for brown shells.
- Fresh seafood and sardines: Touted for their “good fats,” often enhanced with lemon juice.
A New Chapter in Television
Ray’s long-running, eponymous syndicated cooking show, “The Rachael Ray Show,” concluded in 2023 after an impressive 17-season run. Undeterred, she has embarked on a new culinary venture, launching her latest program, “Meals in Minutes,” in April 2024, promising viewers quick and delicious recipes.
