Salah ‘At Peace’ as Exit from English Giants Looms

Mo Salah’s Journey at Liverpool and the Road Ahead

Mo Salah is one of the most recognizable names in world football, and his decision to leave Liverpool in March sent shockwaves through the sport. After nine seasons with the club, where he scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, Salah’s name became synonymous with Liverpool.

“Unfortunately, the day has come,” he wrote on Instagram, marking the end of an era for both the player and the club. The Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, WSL, European World Cup qualifiers, J.League, NSWL, and K League are all available on Stan Sport, making it the go-to destination for football fans.

Salah’s departure was not entirely unexpected. His relationship with manager Arne Slot had been strained, and they had a public falling out in December after comments he made following a 3-3 draw with Leeds.

As his time at Liverpool comes to a close, there are still questions about where Salah will play next. He is currently dealing with an injury that casts doubt on whether he will play again. During a match against Crystal Palace last Sunday (AEST), Salah limped off the field with a suspected hamstring injury. In an exclusive interview with former Chelsea teammate and Socceroos legend Mark Schwarzer for Stan Sport, he described the injury as “not that bad,” but did not offer much reassurance that he would return to the pitch soon.

“I’m very professional and I do everything right,” he began. “The injury is not bad and I will hopefully be on the pitch again soon.”

There are only three rounds left in the Premier League season. A year after winning the title, Liverpool are currently fourth on the table, 15 points behind Arsenal.

Salah said leaving Liverpool was “the right thing to do.”

“I feel I’m at peace with that idea or the situation now,” he said. “Leaving this club (was always going to be) tricky, always very difficult for me — I had the best years of my career and of my life here. Leaving wasn’t easy, but everything going on during the season makes me feel, ‘OK, that’s the right thing to do.'”

The interview also touched on Salah’s early days in the Premier League when he made his debut with Chelsea, where Schwarzer was playing at the time. Salah recalled how he was “shy” in the dressing room as he adjusted to the shift from playing in the Egyptian league to the top league in the world.

He also shared a conversation with then-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who tried to convince him to stay at Stamford Bridge after Salah told the club he wanted to move to Italy.

“He’s a lovely guy, I love him, one of the best coaches I had in my life,” he said. “He told me, ‘I want you to stay, or just go somewhere just on loan then come back, because I want you’.”
