Lord of the Flies – Added 8 February
Stan, in collaboration with the BBC, presents a highly anticipated new series adaptation of William Golding’s classic novel, Lord of the Flies. Helmed by screenwriter Jack Thorne (Adolescence) and BAFTA-winning director Marc Munden (The Mark of Cain, National Treasure), this marks the first-ever television adaptation of the seminal and often unsettling book.
The series remains remarkably faithful to the original novel, transporting viewers to an unnamed Pacific island in the early 1950s. The narrative follows a group of schoolboys who find themselves stranded after a devastating plane crash, with no adult supervision. However, this four-part series delves deeper into the novel’s profound exploration of human nature, the poignant loss of innocence, and the complexities of boyhood masculinity. Filmed on location in Malaysia, the ensemble cast features over 30 young actors, many of whom are making their professional acting debuts, portraying the island camp’s ‘biguns’ and ‘littluns’.

The film rigorously examines Brooklyn’s recent claims, seeking to uncover the truth behind the alleged fallout. Featuring insights from veteran showbiz journalists who have followed the Beckhams for decades, branding experts who have analysed the construction of “Brand Beckham,” and psychologists who explore the psychological impact of growing up in the spotlight, the documentary questions what happens when a global brand clashes with genuine human relationships and the potential consequences for the iconic Beckham legacy.
