New Twist Adds Tension to I’m A Celebrity
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here Australia is back, but this season has taken a different turn. With episodes pre-recorded and live voting removed, contestants are now voting among themselves to decide who will face the bush tucker trial. This new twist has introduced an extra layer of tension into camp life.
Julia Morris, one of the beloved co-hosts, described this season as the “toughest yet” for contestants. She noted that they are dealing with the usual challenges of the jungle while also navigating these new changes.
If you’re struggling to keep up with all the eliminations and twists, don’t worry! We’ve compiled all the key details in one place.
Who Has Been Eliminated So Far?
Barry Williams’ time on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia came to an abrupt end during a high-pressure elimination at the Elephant’s Graveyard. He became the third celebrity to be sent packing this season.
The Hollywood veteran, best known for his role on The Brady Bunch, left the competition in a moment that many viewers felt was over too soon.
During his stint in the jungle, Barry quickly became a camp favorite, earning the nickname Big Bad Bazza and even being jokingly crowned an honorary Aussie by his fellow celebrities. One user took to Reddit saying, “Not liking the elimination system this year. Barry did not deserve to be put up for elimination. He gave his all and embraced everything.”
Campmates Wave Goodbye to Matt Zukowski
The latest campmate to be dumped from The Jungle was Matt Zukowski, after previously surviving the first elimination against Rachel Hunter. Matt expressed his desire to stay longer, saying, “I wish I’d stayed longer.” However, he admitted, “But again, that’s easier to say when I’m been sitting on a couch for six weeks.”
Matt was eliminated on February 4 after losing a game against Luke and Dyson. He is the second campmate to be eliminated.
Rachel Hunter Is the First Campmate Eliminated
Rachel Hunter was the first celebrity to be kicked out of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia 2026. The 56-year-old model was evicted from camp on February 1 after losing a guessing game against her fellow campmate, Matt Zukowski.
Fans were not happy with this turn of events and took to social media to share their thoughts. One user wrote on X, “There’s no way Rachel would have been in the bottom three if the public got a chance to vote.” Another added, “Well that sucks. I wanted Rachel to stay. This is bloody frustrating,” while another said, “If viewers were voting, Rachel would have made it much further.”
Deni Hines Quit I’m A Celebrity
Deni Hines was officially the first celebrity to leave The Jungle after uttering the famous phrase that gives the show its namesake. On January 27, fans watched singer Deni Hines, 55, leave her campmates behind after she decided to leave the show.
She struggled to adjust to camp life and had several clashes with fellow campmates, with one altercation even leaving Nath Valvo in tears. “I’m a very strong-willed human being and I’m very direct. And, if you’ve grown up in a bit of a cotton wool environment, I’d be a bit weird for you,” Deni said during her final episode.
She now joins a small group of celebrities who have left The Jungle by choice, including Anthony Mundine, Beau Ryan, Bernard Tomic, Frankie Muniz, Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Mel Buttle, and now Deni.
What Other Changes Do We Know About I’m A Celeb This Season?
Despite the show being pre-recorded and public voting being slashed, the public will still have the ultimate decision of who is crowned the King or Queen of The Jungle. Three different finale episodes have already been recorded.
Finalists flew home after filming their ‘winning scenes’ without knowing if they’re the winners or not, because it’s ultimately not been decided yet.
What Has Julia Morris Said About the Series?
One of the biggest challenges this year has not been the fact that campmates are being voted to do trials, but rather the opposite. Julia Morris explained that while being voted to participate in trials causes tension among contestants, the most unexpected tension is ignited when campmates raise their hands and ask to do it, only to be dismissed.
“It’s interesting because where they are trying to be conciliatory with each other and they’re trying to be cohesive and working as a team, there’s also a deep down ‘I can’t believe you didn’t choose me for that’. And, whether they say it or not, we as an audience know it [is a problem],” Julia told.
